Tesla Model Y Quality Issues Are Surfacing - Would This Hold You Back From Buying?
A review of the build quality of an early Tesla Model Y production unit shows some significant issues.

Like other automakers, Tesla has had issues with the build quality of early production of new vehicle programs.

However, with Tesla operating in the luxury segment, it is often held to higher standards, and many are considering some of those issues to be unacceptable for $50,000+ cars.

On the upside, the automaker showed some improvements with the early Model 3, and people were expecting Tesla to keep the trend going with the Model Y.

What do you expect? Tesla doesn't believe in running engineering prototypes to get at wear/durability/reliability issues so why would we assume they would have build quality that meet expectations before a car was released to the public.

Never considered buying one as they are ugly and poor quality.

Not so much the issues with initial quality, which are inexcusable at this stage and for a premium-priced vehicle, but the issues with service are a big fly in the ointment for me. A $150B company has no legitimate excuse to treat their customers like crap other than to rip them off.

Any other manufacturer charging that kind of money, and buyers would be irate. However, Tesla owners turn a blind eye because of the perceived luxury and tech.

#Toyota.

Looks on par with the bad panel gaps on the production Corvette C8.

There is a MASSIVE difference that you're ignoring.

The Corvette is "plastic" and plastic bodies have to be designed with more panel space due to expansion under heat.

@MD- Fair point, but if you watch the video Matt Farah, did it goes WAY beyond that. Gaps should match and panels and trim should be fit properly. This production car was a bit of a dud when viewed up close in certain areas.

I was referring SOLELY to the C8.

Body panel gaps and interior bits that look and fit like crap totally turn me off. Even worse, if you go to the Tesla forums, there are LOTS of complaints from angry owners who can't get parts and service.

They deserve what they get for not doing their research. And if they did their research, it should come as no surprise.

I wonder if some were built in a rush right before things started to lock down for Coronavirus. Not all Model Ys reviewed in the videos have turned out like that. I'm hoping next month to finally sit in one that a family member is getting.
