How much you want to bet that the Rivian is nowhere near being to industry standards and doing a Lincoln Mark E would be so much easier to do?

That's an illogical statement. They are making a massive push with the Mach E which by all accounts appears that it will be a market success. Ford isn't building EVs just to build EVs. They are wisely trying to build EVs that (1) are a product that people want and (2) are products that set the stage for longevity like the 1964.5 Mustang did. They've seen GM fail miserably for making an EV just to make an EV. A "Mark E" version is in the mix as was a Lincoln Rivian. Given that Rivian has ZERO experience at engineering and producing production vehicles and like Tesla Rivian doesn't believe in rigorous prototype testing. The stoppage of the Lincoln Rivian is most likely due to the Rivian not being up to standard. More than likely Ford determined that the cost for retrofitting necessary to make the Rivian marketable was in excess of any real profit potential for a niche EV.

Simple, was bound to loose money and Ford is facing financial doomsday. More culling to come.
