Europes EV Sales Rise 41% In March DESPITE Coronavirus - Touches 10% Of Total Market Share
The European passenger plug-in market registered 84,000 registrations in March (+41%), a great performance consindering the effect that the several lockdowns across the continente had, with the overall market crashing (-52% YoY), inflating last month plugin share to an amazing 9.9% share (6% BEV), and pulling the 2020 PEV share to 7.5% (4.3% for BEVs alone), well above the 3.6% result of 2019.

Will we see Europe's plugin market hit two digit share this year?

The big news in March is the peak month of the Tesla Model 3, that delivered 16,121 registrations, while the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV returned to the podium, thanks to 3,551 units, while below it, we have two Volkswagen Group models, with the VW e-Golf in #4 and the Audi e-Tron in 5th.

Given the fascist-socialist, greener-than-thou, nannystateism (sic) that Der Fuhrer Merkel and her cuckold boy puppet President Maricon love, this is not surprising.

Tesla is destroying the competition worldwide. Pretty amazing that it's happening so quickly.

And they are doing it largely because other car makers are not benchmarking. VWAG rushed their engineering to market and made it overly complicated for the sake of complication then had to go back to the drawingboard causing a huge delay in the launch of the ID3.

Tesla isn't winning because their products are so amazing. They are winning because other makers are failing to compete. Lexus is about to do their first EV and it's an ICE vehicle with batteries bolted in. That isn't good enough.

I am excited about the Mach E. I might have to have one, and though Newport Beach and back in a day is doable with a charger while I'm in meetings, my customary trips to Tucumcari would require a stop along the way.

@MD- It floors me on how badly the rest of the auto industry has responded to Tesla. How hard can it be to benchmark a competitor's product? They have been doing this for 100 years, did they forget all they have learned?

Indeed. Before the Mach E was the Mach E it was a compliance EV, then Ford decided that would be bad PR, so they went backward on the design and created something that people would want to buy.

Remember the traditional auto manufacturers Still have to continue To design, r&d, sell and service Vehicles (ICE) that 98% of their customers want to purchase (Tesla does not), they are being forced to invest a disproportionate amount of revenue into for products that 98% of their don’t want to buy. Not a good ROI.

At some point Tesla will be absorbed.
