Is Elon Musk Now Donald Trump’s Strongest Business Ally? Calls California “Fascist”!
You need to drop everything you’re doing and listen to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s unscripted rant on the Q1 financial results conference call.

Musk called California’s stay-at-home order “fascist” and called on the government to “give people back their goddamn freedom.”.

Never in my life have I heard a large public company CEO take on the horns of his political enemy -- California Governor Newsom -- in such harsh language.

By calling this California policy “fascist”, Musk basically equated Governor Newsom with Benito Mussolini, the personification and embodiment of fascism.

Elon Musk now cemented himself as President Trump’s biggest business ally by far, and I offer three suggestions as to what Musk may do next to take this to the next level.

I listened to the whole thing live, some of the quotes in there are pretty epic. The article doesn't even mention the f-bomb. Check out Elon's tweets today for actual California stats. Every prediction on resources needed for the virus has been off by an insane margin and hospitals are now furloughing and cutting salaries of medical workers to stay in business.

They are also treating every death of a patient that has COVID as a COVID death regardless of the cause for a greatly increased payout. Gunshot wound? COVID. Heart attack? COVID. Eaten by a bear? COVID. Now the bear has COVID too, let's also throw that into the stats.

The exact quote in case you're curious was that the shelter in place orders are:

"breaking people's freedoms in ways that are horrible and wrong and not why people came to America or built this country. What the fuck."

Oh boy.

First of all, the difference between 1 million cases and 60,000 deaths and 0 is huge; it's not "he was off on the numbers of cases in April", he was off by a measure of "it exists en masse vs. not at all."

Second, gearing up the for the worst case scenario when such a scenario is within the realm of near-term possibility is good leadership. Imagine if the opposite had happened and people were dying by the tens of thousands because we DIDN'T have enough equipment or preparations in place. Calling for mass numbers of ventilators and testing was preparing for the deep end within the margin of uncertainty in a fast-moving situation. Were they off? Sure, but in the right direction at least.

Finally, it's because of the measures we've taken and governments have taken that have helped keep the critical infection and mortality rate in check. Without these "fascist" steps, the death toll was being predicted at 2.1 Million by the US government. That's a bit of a circular argument, insofar as you can't prove a negative, so it's impossible to say with 100% certainty that we were right and the evidence is in the numbers, or we overreacted and the evidence is in the numbers. However, brighter medical minds than all of us have indicated this is likely.

Any drastic measures like those being taken right now should have a countervoice that's heard. It would be dangerous to willingly submit to state-enforced restrictions on freedoms without carefully questioning such a thing. Indeed, the very idea that the government can make you stay inside and prevent you from going about as you please is a frightening thing, in principle. However, I think in this case, it has been questioned and it has passed the credibility test and is not a fascist takeover of the United States of America. It's healthy to question the actions of the government, but it's not logical to disregard the reasonable outcome of such questioning just because you don't like how it affects you.

The death rate is 0.1 to 0.2%, the maximum death toll if every human being in the US got it would be 650k. Most of the current death toll today is also not accurate. When all is said and done we'll have to look at all deaths over time YoY to see what the real impact was.

He's pretty good at math, science, physics, stats. He might have been off by not having cases by the end of April, but if we imposed no restrictions perhaps we could be Japan right now (look up what did and what their death toll is).

California is a fascist-socialist Gestapo. Governor wiggle dick wants to run for President in 2024, but Auntie Nancy the alcoholic, denture-sucking bitch won't be able to buy it for him. Trump will destroy her after his re-election. You can already see the physical toll it's taking on the old whore.

As for Gavvypants, he's about to have people openly defying him in the state and THAT will turn people against him. Even the Alt-Left here hates him.

He doesn't realize it but he is making it easy for a Republican to unseat him in the 2022 election.

We're lawyering up as a precaution.

@FAQMD I'm in Newport Beach once a week and the people down there are donning a lynch mob mentality and plan to focus a lot of money on defeating Newsom in 2022. Some attorneys are itching to go at the state on civil rights issues. I pop the popcorn and watch.

you're total loser... seriously. Enjoy your pathetic hate, toad...

This thing has a 98.7 recovery rate. We know enough now so people can either stay home or go out with a mask, or wash their hands. Its run its course and our freedoms MUST be restored. Enough of the Govt telling us what to do, they work for us and we've done our share to ensure everyone's safety. As for the "science" I just discussed it, 98.7 and wear a mask and wash your hands, or stay home. Open it up...

The president should be fostering a relationship with Tesla and Musk, despite the fact that some of the rednecks who voted for him don't care for EVs. The development of EV technology at Tesla and the potential for some of the tech/talent to filter down to other domestic automakers could allow the American auto industry be competitive on a global basis again.

He exists in California. Believe me. He knows what the word fascist means.

Fascism: "...dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and the economy..." That's Gavin Newsom to a T. The Alt-Left has found a way to fuse fascism and socialism.

You missed a few of the key points of the definition

fascism is racial statism

Opposed to liberalism, Communism

Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete

Fascism is a far-right philosophy

A dictatorship can be fascists, but not all dictators are fascists.

@scenic

"fascism is racial statism"
Alt-Left is anti-semitic, Anti-Israel, Pro-Muslim, Pro-Sharia Law

"Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete"
How you noticed how the Alt-Left governors did not use democracy in action to close down society?

"Fascism is a far-right philosophy"
Actually the far-left has adopted it, propagated it, and strengthened it to the point that it is now a far-left policy

"A dictatorship can be fascists, but not all dictators are fascists."
Only Obama, Pelosi, Feinstein, Schumer, Clinton, Waters, AOC, Tlaib, Omar, Biden, Harris, Sanders, Schiff, ...have the true fascist dictator zeal

My reply has zero to do with politics, it's all about the misuse of the word. My biggest pet peeve is the misuse of the literal, which use to mean, word for word or exact meaning. Now they have literally changed the meaning of literal because the vast uneducated unwashed masses used it incorrectly.

When I see or hear someone using the term fascist in relationship with socialism, communism, liberalism, or Marxism, it's telling me they are using because the heard somewhere else and never have bothered to understand the word or etymology, thus leading to the general dumbing down of America.

As far as this site's view on politics I couldn't give a rat's ass. 95% are just spouting out what media outlet they are listening too, so it means absolutely nothing to me. They're never going to change mine and I'm never going to change theirs, so a waste of time and energy.

The death rates from other causes remains constant, so if COVID isn't causing this, then people are dropping dead normally. If you think a hospital is violating its reporting, you are free to report it and people will go to jail because coding violations are serious.

"maximum death toll if every human being in the US got it would be 650k." If there were something that killed all male newborns, how far would you go to fix it? The issue isn't necessarily just the numbers, but the specific impact. For Covid-19, these numbers would be concentrated in a specific population (elderly), which is why it can quickly overwhelm a hospital in a region, vs a more general purpose killer like gunshot wounds, flu or heart attacks.

Actually the word "fascist" is a perfect descriptor of those who espouse "liberal" ideology today. In the past being liberal meant you were open minded and accepting of others ideas. Today liberals are closed minded thugs who assault those whom they do not agree with. To wit, look at all the assaults by deranged leftists on those who even dare to wear a red hat. Check out that crazy Michigan democrat governor who is constantly overstepping her constitutional authority and exhibits signs of maniacal fascism. Then there's the Louisiana mayor who tried to use the Covid crisis as a pretext to confiscate guns. Democrat leadership is on record as stating that they should not let this crisis go to waste. Translation - use the crisis to push through all sorts of crazy fascist leftist legislation that would ordinarily not pass constitutional muster.
