BMW Ends European Delivery Program For US Customers

An under-appreciated service of enthusiast engagement will end later this year when BMW shuts down its European delivery program, where U.S. customers could fly out and pick up their car at the company’s German museum. It seems that party is over.

If you want to buy a BMW and then fly to Europe to pick it up at the automaker’s funky Welt museum venue, make sure you get your order in soon because the chance to enter the program is coming to an end later this month.

That's an epic fail on BMW's part. I have picked up three BMWs over the years via the tourist delivery program, which included significant discounts in each case. And the opportunity to drive a V12 BMW at 155 m.p.h. at sunrise on an empty Autobahn...

Its a waste of money and the whole thing creates work for people who jobs are about to be eliminated. The better thing to do is pick up your BMW at the Spartanburg, SC factory and take a hot lap on the track. Much easier then you can drive yourself home.

There is a lot of 'marketing stuff' that is going to vaporize in the coming 12 months. For example there are TWO US 'Porsche Experience Centers' - one in LA area and one in Georgia. Maybe one or none are left?

How about that "Ferrari World" theme park in UAE/Dubai - how long does that hang around?

Now that the 3 series is hecho en Mexico, the sales volume that is eligible for euro delivery is probably very small.

Perhaps we can pick up our M340i's in Mexico and then drive it over the border?

You will need every one of the BMW 'twin power turbo's' horsepower's to make it to Cali/Texas without getting killed or abducted!
