Say WHAT? Kia To Build Taycan Fighting EV Crossover
It wasn't long ago that electrified vehicles were mere bit-players within automakers' lineups. Today, that outlook is changing rapidly as hybrids/EVs begin to take over as leading models. The quickest Porsche Panamera is the E-Hybrid version, and the next-gen BMW 7 Series will be crowned by a fully electric variant.

Now, even non-premium brands like Kia are following suit - according to Auto Express, the Korean manufacturer is set to launch an electric crossover next year that will act as its halo model. For now, it's known as the Kia CV and it'll feature 800-volt technology from another highly regarded EV: the Porsche Taycan. Right now, Kia's priciest model is the full-size K900 sedan, which comes in at around the $60,000 mark - the CV should challenge how much customers are willing to pay for a Kia.

The K900 is a nice car but it's totally worthless as a seller or as a halo. As much as it pains me to say it, the Stinger is also a total failure due to patently dumb market placement and marketing.

Sweeping the Credenza and the Caninehundred out, letting the Stinger run its course, and replacing all three with an EV makes sense.

This will be badge-engineered version of Hyundai's blob. BUT Kia will have to deliver this at a price. If it approaches the size of a Model S for a Model 3 price, they will have found the sweet spot.

If anything make a set apart manufacturer off Kia like Genesis and call it "Stinger S series "

If they price it competitively, this could work well. Two years from now I'll be turning my leased Niro PHEV in, and I'm planning on a full EV. While the ID.4 is my current #1, lots can change before then. I'm happy enough with my Niro that I would consider another Kia.

Stinger is also a total failure

Everyone could see this from Day 1, except you, and Kia.

Actually Mr PutWordsInPeoplesMouths, I have often said that the Stinger is MARKETING failure. Instead of purporting what a person has said and being a hateful, overcompensatory hypocrite, be truthful in what you say.

I just did a 20 second search of this site to pull up your EXACT WORDS as typed here a few years back:

"this is a stellar new entry into the performance sedan market."

"Let's be real. Kia is going after profit and will be stunningly successful at it."

Wow. You weren't just wrong - you were completely, totally, wrong. Like 180 degrees wrong. And this from some kind of self-proclaimed industry genius. That's embarrassing.

The initial sales of the Stinger were encouraging in fact.

BUT you're purporting that the cherry picked quotes are the only commentary I've made about it and that I've never criticized the market placement or its marketing.

In short, like the Alt-Left hypocrite, you're distorting things to suit your false narrative.

Being such a hateful person, you must be hell to live with or maybe you're a bastard because your wife's cut you off.

@carloslassiter Your toxic comments don't add anything to the discussion. Please take your brand of "gotcha" commentary somewhere else.

The Kia design study in this article is distinctive and attractive. I would seriously consider driving my first Kia if they pulled this off.
