The New Normal: Commuters Abandon Public Transit Over Coronavirus Fears
James Li, a public relations account director, would rather spend an hour sitting in Beijing traffic than risk 30 minutes exposed to crowds on a train.

"Traffic is as bad as it could be" but the subway is still too dicey," he said.

In Frankfurt, real estate assistant Anna Pawliczek is driving to work for the first time in her career. "I definitely have always preferred to chill out in the train, instead of being stuck at traffic lights," she said.

That's not the new normal. That's the new fucked in the head. The effect of the China virus isn't mass death, but mass, phobia-driven psychosis. It's like we transferred the treatment of "the gays" at the dawn of the HIV era where I'm told that people were shunned, not touched or hugged for fear of getting the "gay disease" when that sort of contact would not have transmitted. Now we're treating everyone as deadly killers but the China virus is innocuous. We were told the China virus was extremely deadly, but it isn't. Data shows that 9 in 10 China-virus deaths are attributable to underlying causes that would have killed people anyway. If you get the China virus, the survival rate is 99% with nearly all of those people experiencing only the most minor of symptoms for a couple of days. But the biggest one of all is that epidemiologists know that the ONLY way to get herd immunity is to NOT wear a mask. By not wearing a mask, you develop an immunity that will also guard you against the mutation of the virus that could happen. The stupid fucks of the world are wearing masks, are cowering in their homes, and are practicing social distancing.

Well I'm not going back on the train anytime soon for this reason. I can work from home or drive if needed.

This is going to be a big hurdle for NYC. The socialist mayor DeBlasio, who we are so unfortunate to have at the helm now, has given so many rights to the homeless, that they have taken over the subway. That problem has abated somewhat by the new rule closing the subway from 1AM to 5AM for cleaning, but the homeless quandry will come roaring back..

Guilani is an a**hole but he would have handled this situation much differently. Who knows what Bloomberg would have done, but Guiliani would have handled it well.
