Filed under: WHY was this review even necessary or WHY Did Motor Trend insult the intelligence of their readers.

As I passed that rack of paper in the supermarket that no one reads or pays for anymore I was stopped in my tracks when I saw that they made the the 2020 Ford Explorer vs. 2020 Kia Telluride review an actual COVER story.

And I thought to myself what ROOKIE picked that for the cover story and WHO on earth doesn't ALREADY know the winner of that without even OPENING the mag?

I mean that fight is like putting Mike Tyson in the ring against Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory.

It's like the Tom Brady being up 40 points with three minutes to go and purposely jamming in another score, to embarrass the opponent.

Makes me ask the question do these car mags even try to write something that will sell copies of their product.

Spies, discuss...

Well, hold your horses. I'm sure many would have expected the 1-2 Korean finish. But that didn't happen. And many would have also counted the older Pilot out but, except for value, it would have come in second.

Not to mention the brand new Highlander and Explorer placing where they did.

Having lived with a Telluride and now an Explorer, I find the Explorer to feel like a good design that needed another year of engineering and a revisit to the styling studio. The 2.3 Egoboost just doesn't do it for me though. I hate it in the Mustang and I hate it more here. The previous Explorer debuted with disgusting styling and the new one attempts tp recapture that ugliness. I don't hate the Explorer I'm driving but I certainly do not love it. It's like Ford pulled "a VW" and got the product to 85% and said "good enough". The lackluster sales of the Explorer--and the equally dismal new Escape--are troubling.

I was hoping to get a link to the actual article but I got this meaningless editorial instead.

For me the Subaru AssScent in the #2 spot is fitting because it is such a pile of shit. Horrible engine. Horrible transmission.

You seem like an expert with cars. You know why the Chevy Blazer sales suck? They are as rare on the road as the Kia K900.

Jtz7, probably for the same reason most 2-row only mid-size (or ones with teeny optional 3rd rows) non-premium SUVs in NA don’t sell as much as their 3-row peers: size and space. Americans love big things. If they only needed two rows they would stick with the segment of CR-Vs, RAV4s, and CX-5’’s and save money.

@jtz7 have you ever priced a Blazer? They are extremely overpriced. We've reduced the stock we carry because they are lot anchors. It's also not a Blazer and a lot of people resent it for that reason.
