Rivian Pickup VS. Tesla Cybertruck. HONESTLY, Is ANYONE REALLY Going Choose The LAME looking One?

Rivian Pickup VS. Tesla Cybertruck. HONESTLY, Is ANYONE REALLY Going Choose The LAME looking One?
Rivian made a big splash at the auto shows a while back showing their Electric pickup truck and suv.

They also made further news by getting hefty investments from Amazon and Ford.

And of course, the little lemming left biased auto media INSTANTLY was in LOVE declaring THESE were the Tesla KILLERS!

We looked at them at Auto Spies and thought who REALLY wants a fully electric truck in a traditional old school body. And a rather BLAND looking one at that.

I mean look at this thing...it's like they made the original Honda Ridgeline into a Disney ride. It's kooky.

And NOT very manly. Can you imagine that thing side by side with a Raptor at a signal light? Like Pee-Wee Herman next to Rambo.

But it kept gaining momentum in the media. You know the ones. The ones who live in Manhattan and can't afford to rent an apartment by themselves, living off freebies and who would NEVER buy one of these even if they could afford one.

And THEN, BOOM, Elon drops the CyberTruck on everyone and these little minions sh_t a BRICK.

Far out, futurisic, badass, plain insanity forged out of metal.

So the question is now that both have been announced, is very simple.

Looking at both pickups...Rivian and Cybertruck. Do you honestly think any reasonable amount of buyers are going to raise their hands and say "I'll take the LAME looking one please!"?

Spies, discuss...

*Full disclosure, I DO have a CyberTruck on order.

I don't need a truck, I don't want a truck, and I'm getting a Cybertruck... that's how compelling the design, performance, range, and practicality is for me. Every time I see it, I want it more.

The Rivian will still sell for multiple reasons. There will be many people that want an electric truck but the Cybertruck design is too radical for them. There will be those that need a truck, but didn't put in an order and won't want to wait until 2023 to get one. There also might be some specific applications where you need 4 independent motors--or perhaps you're willing to $$$ anything to do tank turns.

The Rivian will sell. Sounds like a compelling product and not everyone wants a Raptor.

But the Cybertruck... Starting at $20k less... No way Tesla will be able to build enough to satisfy demand.

Not even in their shiny new factory in Austin.

Even with the tank turn capability my wife will still plow into the side of the garage.

Would you like my wife to teach your wife how to drift?

Cybertruck looks like a triangle on top of a rectangle.

if Ford can help Rivian with competent engineering and productionizing, then Rivian will be the one to buy. It's not a rolling freak show with farting noises like the Tesla.

I'm partial to the Rivian, ended up putting a deposition both. Not everyone wants to draw the attention from something that looks like it was designed by some 9th grader for the set of Space 1999. Plus that, I can't imagine how hot that stainless thing will get in our South Florida sun. Arizona? I burnt myself on a metal seatbelt.

They're using stainless steel on Starship, which needs to survive extreme temperatures re-entering the atmosphere. Stainless steel handles heat well, shouldn't be much different than a normal car. Door handles I'm sure will be plastic like other Teslas.
