Is The STOCK Porsche Carrera S The BEST Sports Car On The Planet UNDER $150K?
I just finished texting 00R asking him what he's up to for Memorial Day Weekend and he tells me he's testing a new 2020 Aston Vantage ($192k MSRP).

So while on the subject of sports cars I threw this one out to him...I love Astons and the like but in my honest opinion, there is no better sportscar UNDER $150k BETTER than just a stock Carrera S PDK.

Yes PDK, NOT manual. I know manuals are hot with the US hipster crowd but why on earth would you mess up a Porsche purchase and buy the SLOWER one?

I know, but 001 I haven't kissed a girl in years so I need SOMETHING that gives me a rise. BULLSH_T I say.

Ask any REAL race car driver and they'll tell you if they get a day on the ring and they can choose between a GT2/GT3 to just drive for FUN, they're taking the stock 'S' with PDK. Big deal, its a FEW seconds slower but at the end of the day you've had a blast and your body doesn't feel like you went ten with Tyson.

And the other thing...you can daily drive the 992 and no one looks at you like they would in a Lambo thinking who on earth is THAT doucher that just drove by? You're under the Ed Hardy radar in the 911.

So tell me where I'm going wrong here?

Spies, discuss...

The 911 is a brilliant car, but for me the Stingray, GT500, ZL1, and the Exorcist are much more interesting as would be the new Griffith if the government dipshits in Wales will ever let the factory be outfitted. The latter is stunning in person. For me, the 911 is "too perfect" like a Camry is too perfect that the flavor is lost.

If you do get one, consider a "jelly bean" colour like the turquoise model in the lower photo, or something similar. There is nothing quite like a 911 in a bright hue.

IMO the Cayman is actually a better driving car. But the 911 has the racing heritage, and it's go the story of Porsche refining the rear motor concept to the point now it's a moot point for most.

Great car but at almost half the cost a Mustang GT350R is even more entertaining and fun.

Some would say the base Carrera with the smallest wheels is more fun than the S, since you can approach the limits more easily. Many other sports cars are so good these days that they are only fun when driven at triple digit speeds.

A colleague/associate/friend of mine who has vineyards near Santa Barbara has a tractor. I first met him when I was helping someone sell down his collection and there was an Aston Martin Virage he wanted to acquire, so I trailered it to him. Fast forward, I've sold other vehicles to him both new and vintage and have helped him sell cars he wanted to part with.

A few years ago, he bid against me via phone on a Sagaris that quickly got too rich for me--the seller would not reveal the other bidder--so I bowed out. The flight home was irksome. 90 days later he told me to bring the trailer because there was a car he wanted me "to give my attention to" as he put it. There it was. It was also a gift.

I was over a little over a year ago having trailered to him a new Cadillac CTSV which was to be his daily driver. We were enjoying martinis and about to grill some steaks, with the promise of some sinfully expensive merlot with dinner when he asked if I wanted to see his new tractor. His home is surrounded by vineyards so I didn't catch on. His new (to him) "tractor" was a Lamborghini Islero that had been gone through mechanically by a SoCal Lambo shop, but it needed some cosmetic attention (respray and a reupholstering job). Miraculously it had no rust.

I love the pastel colors on cars and the Art Deco buildings of Miami/Ft Liquerdale. Nice break from the blacks, whites silver mainstream colors

I love the midcentury modern/bauhaus backdrops they borrow from Palm Springs.
