So You Think YOU Drive Fast? Cannonball Run Records Were Broken SEVEN Times In The Last WEEK Due To The Empty Streets From Corona Virus!
'Word on the street there's a new cannon ball record yesterday at 26:38. Damn that's fast, wrote Rehv Mark, who has since deleted the post.

Meanwhile, a small group of people who had competed in the C2C Express and the 2094 races - Cannonball Run spin-offs from recent years - planned to have a Cannonball run on April 4, as well.

While such a feat is normally a cause for celebration, some social media users and Cannonball Run fans have labeled the latest run 'scummy' amid the pandemic.

Where do you stand on this?

I love driving fast, but not on public roads and these speeds are such that overtaking other motorists is extremely dangerous.

If you’re racing it should be done on a track or closed road.

I’ve Done this trip over a dozen times, it “IS” the Ultimate Road trip. Favorite was in a Maserati Ghibli SS. If you’re running RT 80 once you’re past Omaha you really stretch the legs on a car. The biggest issue is the timing going through Chicago.

The funny part in reading the story is how other record holders are complaining that this group did it during a lockdown. Like the Crack dealer criticizing the Heroin dealer.... Priceless. 120mph on public roads can't be condoned at any time. But the drive itself would be fun with the right company.

It's like when you whip a Miata or a GT86 around a road course in a GTi or a base V6 automatic Mustang and the pilots of the JDM garbage say "But my car has balance." It's just the talk of little men unable to accept their inferior position.

But it’s condoned in Germany? Have you ever driven the Autostrada between Roma and Napoli? 120+ mph can be done safely depending on the road. Try RT 80 between the Nevada State Line and SLC, flat and relatively straight for 100 miles, oh BTW that area off to the left that looks like a field of snow......it’s called Salt as in the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Another issue is the quality of the roads. Just east of Cline's Corner on the I-40 is or was a nice pothole. Traffic was moving 70-75 and some guy shot past well over 100 and he hit a pothole that sent his car into a spin then a flip. At 70-75 you have reaction time, but at 100+ you don't.

And I can drive clear across Toronto (the most congested city in NA) during the day without having to hit my brakes very much or not at all during the China virus shutdown doing trips in 1/2 to 1/3 the "normal time" driving...These new Cannonball run records are meaningless.
