Spied in Montecito, Ca.  The outing comes after a wave of stories about her 'cold' and 'demeaning' behavior at work, contrary to the warm and quirky image she's built over the last 30+ years.

A source recently told Us Weekly: 'Ellen is at the end of her rope. She thought this was all just sour grapes from a few haters. But it’s not a passing thing — the hits just keep coming.'

They added: 'Ellen’s so grateful to have Portia in her life as a soulmate and a sounding board, but that doesn’t mean it’s been easy.

Sadly when you meet them they just look like very fit mid 30's ladies with their life together. You only find out after the gathering when talking to friends that they are playing for the other team. Our loss entirely....

I had a similar experience when my brother and his beloved--now brother in law--told me that had purchased matching platinum rings. When I saw them and realized they were much too large for the ring finger, I knew I was on new ground. My boys are growing up with two gay uncles and their husbands, a gay grandfather and his husband, and a gay brother with a soon to be husband so perhaps they will be less shocked.
