Why Doesn't Lexus Bring Their Minivan To The US Market?

Last year, Lexus entered the minivan segment in the form of the Lexus LM. The huge posh MPV was based on the Toyota Alphard, which has gained popularity in Asia and other markets where massive people carriers are a hit. The already luxurious minivan has souped-up further in the LM, offering massive interior space and other niceties that owners would really appreciate. As you would have guessed it, the Lexus LM is initially offered in China and other Asian markets.

Because a loaded up XLE AWD Sienna already is a Lexus territory? Not sure how many buyers there would be for a $75k or $100 Minivan.

The Lexus Allfart is a pathetically ugly vehicle that apparently is the delight of Asians with more money than brains or taste. As such it's a niche seller. A Lexus Sienna would be a terrible move because "minivan" says "Walmart", "soccer mom", "castrated dad", among other things. What Lexus needs desperately is the LQ, a total rethink and enlargement of the RX (let's replace it with an RQ), and an enlargement of the NX (NQ).

Toyota has many cool looking minivans products in Asia that I have seen in Hong Kong and Mainland China (if one can call a minivan cool). Crazy they don't bring them here as I am sure they would sell well in Metro areas for Taxi and courier services. I rode in some and they were peppy, posh and well suited for tight urban areas whereas you still need storage capacity without being too large like your typical minivans from Dodge and the like...

The Allfart isn't one of them.

A tarted up Sienna? The one with the horrible IIHS crash test results? NO THANKS

Are you even paying attention? The 2021 Sienna hasn't even been crash tested by IIHS, let alone launched or Job1ed. The 10 year relic in Toyota dealers, would have no relation to anything Lexus going forward.

So the copied the Telluride's B pillar but put it on the C pillar instead. But because Lexus isnt Korean, the haters will act like Kia didnt release the Tellurise concept 3 years ago.

Grow up. I agree with your commentary "sometimes", as I'm objective, but this just takes the cake.

The design freeze on the new 500B Sienna program was in August 2017. Full sized clay final styling approval was many months earlier, BEFORE that stage. Why do I know this? Toyota wanted to achieve 29 months and meet a January 2020 Job 1. It got delayed many months over non-COVID issues multiple times.

For that matter, I thought the Telluride Concept was developed way before 3 years ago? Even so, that's opinionated drivel, for you to be inferring such a thing.

Unlike the majority of individuals posting here, I work in the higher R&D tiers of the industry and made it a mission to know and understand the development history of all major nameplates, standout, or niche vehicles of interest.

Too many people comment out of such annoying ignorance, on automobiles, where they have very little idea about product planning processes, regarding "copying".

My motto is: I don't comment on anything I am ignorant of, so I don't embarrass myself nor incite an uproar/animosity from making poorly informed statements.

You might be upset over unfair accusations, but accusing Toyota is unfair BS.

As usual, I am sick of the clickbait BS from a man who generally snarky or negative content on Japanese brands.

No one cares about a Lexus minivan, especially slapped together thing for East Asia. All you are doing is posting on this, because it's an easy blight on the nameplate.

Typical (negative) stereotype of Texan men in the worst way. (I'm part Texan) Too bad 001 doesn't post more.

You can't be "part Texan". Any true Texan will tell you that you're either "all Texan" or you're not Texan.

Maybe they feel that the "minivan" has reached the end of it's life cycle in the US.
