Over the last year, Tesla has made several moves to start generating revenue from software.

The automaker started charging $10 a month for its ‘premium connectivity’ features.

This should tell you that TESLA is a software company and not an auto mfg. Now we all know why their customers are the beta testers.

Software is one of the things Tesla does better than any other auto manufacturer.

I wouldn't be too much of a cheerleader given how that software drives people into things and kills them.

Saves a lot of them too, especially if they aren't doing anything stupid.

My best guess is FSD will be $200/mo. That will make it worthwhile to prepay if you plan to own the car for more than 4 years. If they do less than that, most people will end up opting for the subscription which will hurt their financial position.

It is the future but I tend to fall into the "I like progress but don't like change" camp. When I picked up my last two family cars the dealer's info instructor took over an hour to explain features I've never cared to have or use. Some new features are great and add to or improve the driving experience. Having to listen and sift thru the many others that you'll never use but paid for, not so much. Nice to have one great driving car in your garage without all the gizmos that often distract from the pure pleasure of driving.
