Aston Martin Slashes Workforce By 20% - Production Volume To Be Reduced

Aston Martin has announced that it is looking to make up to 500 staff redundant and reduce production of its sports cars as it looks to save £30 million in a bid to improve cost efficiencies across its business as it fights to deliver profitable growth.

In an announcement to the stock exchange Aston Martin explained that its plan ‘requires a fundamental reset which includes a planned reduction in front-engined sports car production to rebalance supply to demands.’ It also confirmed that deliveries of the first DBX models are on track to be delivered this summer.

And the DBX will not save them. The DBX desperately needed to be a $100-150K ride.

My guess is a Macan sized SUV from Aston Martin will be $100-$150k. 4,000 units of the DBX, 8,000-12,000 units of the CBX. Maybe the little one back use a Mercedes platform or be built off the Vantage somehow.

I don't see how AM can survive independently.

Same with McLaren who laid of 1,200 people and is desperately trying to avoid BK.

Well apparently Big Bad Mercedes is throwing on their cape to save both. Mercedes-AMG boss will now head Aston a Martin and McLaren F1 is to be powered by Mercedes engines again from 2021-2024, and Benz still has shares in both.

We will see how this plays out, apparently F1 hasn’t had a strong showing in F1 since they stopped using Benz engines in 2014 and are desperate to get back to the winners circle and relevance.

I’ll put it like this, it’s very good and lucrative to be Benz right now

Aston Martin has been on life support for decades only being saved time and time again from closing its doors for good by men with money and a dream...this time a Canadian billionaire with a race car driving son trying to get a leg up. Who will be next to step up when his pockets are depleted to the point he wants out of the game?

Pug

Once again well stated and I always appreciate your perspective on this board. MY thoughts exactly except I though it may have been more prudent and cheaper to buy an actual F1 team to guarantee your kid a ride and lots of struggling teams would all be so happy to take his money like Williams and more than likely half the bottom of the pack. AM was just bragging rights for a man whom made his fortune on fashion which utilized cheap offshore slave labor (just like most billionaires I guess)...
