What Next? Nissan Drops Out Of Delivery And Passenger Van Market
Nissan dropped the Quest minivan a few of years ago and it appears the company’s commercial vans will soon follow suit.

Nothing is official, but Automotive News is reporting Nissan will cease production of the NV Cargo and NV Passenger vans at its plant in Canton, Mississippi. The company is also expected to drop the NV200 which is built in Mexico.

Nissan vans aren't the ones to have if you want reliable cargo haulers.

Toyota needs to enter this market. They should build on next Tundra platform.

That's one of the issues of the Nissan vans. Because they are built on what is largely a Titan chassis, they are not as space efficient than the "cab-over" designs.

Nissan’s vans didn’t stand a chance against Ford’s dominance and Mercedes Sprinters charging full speed ahead

That's too bad. I like the NV200 mod where they install a Nissan 4x4 truck chassis converting it into a quadravan.

You'd still have shitty Nissan "quality".

These pickup based vans are quickly falling out of favor with the availability of the Ford Transit and Sprinter vans in the US which are much more practical for the intended purpose. At some point it may make sense for them to bring the Renault vans into the US market under the Nissan name.

With Ford and VW sort of merging, it will be interesting to see what happens with in the USA given that VW doesn't "do" commercial vehicles here. I haven't driven the VW Tarshunda (or whatever it's called) that is going to be the basis for the next Transit Connect, but I have driven the current Transit Connect to New Mexico and back and it really was a lot better than I imagined it could have been. Unladen it's a bit "pogo" in its ride motions but no more so than a pickup. With a load it's stable.

Those big Nissan vans were just hideous to look at... I did like the NV200 though... certain batches of the Nissan quest were great vehicles... Maybe they should bring in the Nissan Urvan premium thats available in other countries?
