Volkswagen Tightens Control On Advertising After Uproar Over Racist Ad

Volkswagen Group vowed to tighten internal marketing controls but stopped short of removing executives and severing ties with agencies after causing an uproar with a video showing a black man being controlled by a giant white hand.

The automaker will step up controls of marketing content and improve training of its personnel to prevent a repeat of the furor caused by the Instagram clip last month, officials said Thursday.

Where do we draw the line? I'm all about equality and fair treatment. 100%

But, if a black hand was controlling a white man, then there would be uproar. If a white hand was controlling a white man, then there's no diversity. If a black hand was controlling a black hand, then a thug is controlling a thug.

Yes, there's a fine line between comedy/entertainment and being offensive. But sometimes I think we take it a bit far.

Sad that a simple commercial turns into something racial when it has nothing to do with race... If the colors were reversed nobody would have said a thing... Pretty sad world we live in right now where anything can be twisted into something bad..
