Will You Relocate Your Home And Business And Change The Kind Of Car You Drive Because Of Covid And The Chaos In Cities?

Will You Relocate Your Home And Business And Change The Kind Of Car You Drive Because Of Covid And The Chaos In Cities?
As I've been out and about and seeing more and more people out socializing, when I hear the conversations or see their posts on social media a BIG change is happening. It seems like, when I was in high school there was a mass exodus out of cities and into the suburbs. Why? Because people got tired of the crime and and unsafe environments for themselves and their families.

They had money and said screw this, we're outta here.

And based on the chatter I hear it's happening all over again but not just to suburbs but rural areas as well. FAR away from the nonsense occuring.

And it's even much easier to do it today. No one back in the day thought they could ever work full time at home but now many companies are encouraging it. Add to it, states with lower taxes, cheaper cost of living, better family experience...should I go on?

And it's a simple, core principle that many don't seem to grasp.

American's don't like HASSLE. They have enough complication in life and anything that adds to it turns them off faster seeing a picture of Rosie O'Donnell.

I mean why would anyone rebuild a business knowing the police won't protect it and that those cities are actually trying to eliminate the police.

Also, from a vehicle perspective, living in areas with much more space and open roads allow you to have more flexibility.

So we ask, in these most uncertain and chaotic times, will you/are you/have you relocate and change the kind of car you drive because of Covid and the insanity happening in some former amazing cities?

My sister and brother in law are about to make the move out of Manhattan. Between the riots, De Blasio’s disregard for the police, the up tick of crime and homeless (even before COVID), and the high taxes, they are selling their $2M place and going to get much more in the burbs without dealing with the liberal BS.

To answer your question about cars, they are afraid to take their Audi out of the garage for fear it will be damaged by the rioters.

So sad. Sorry to hear that friend. :(

Values are going up in Plano and San Diego suburbs. People from LA love SoCal but want to be away from the asylum.

The liberal shit bags on here will call the people moving out to get away from the crime and violence "racist" and will give a total pass on the violence of black terrorist lives matter. Apparently, if you're a good white liberal, you stay and take the shit. The irony is that whenever there is white flight, overwhelmingly it's liberals running. Gotta love hypocrisy.

To make matters worse, liberals will seek low tax, conservative communities, then implement their liberal policies there, and wonder why taxes and crime are rising.

EXACTLY Jeff - the rest of us out here in "fly over country", as arrogant libs refer to us, need them to stay where they are. They vote in turds like these 2 then move elsewhere and keep voting for turds, ruining the places they move... Liberals are ruining America...

My sister and brother in law are about to make the move out Texas. Between the mass shootings, terrorists police officers disregards for human life, the uptick of school shootings and opioid addicts (even before covid), and the church shootings, they are selling their 3 million dollar condo downtown and going north to get to safer grounds avoiding the conservative incompetence.

To answer your questions about cars, they are actually looking for something bullet proof, as they are afraid to be pulled over by a trigger happy cop and lose their life for fear a crazed mass shooter will murder them unless a police officer turned
Terrorist gets to them first

Where I live is totally calm, so not moving. With LA, SF, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, and Minneapolis now totally destroyed by fascist-socialist, Alt-left, Radical Democrats, there will be a white flight away from the unchecked bullshit that is not protest, but instead criminal terrorism. Real estate sales in my area have gone sharply up in the past two weeks.

My wife a and I own and live in a renovated bank building with her art gallery on the first floor and our residence upstairs. We had to board up the front of our building due to FBI warning of internet chatter of severe disruption directed our way. State police surrounded our village for three nights but fortunately all remained quiet. We have lived in our small suburban village for 41 years and don't plan to leave. However while I have resisted having fire arms in the past I am seriously considering getting a shot gun to protect my wife who is handicapped and her business. Sad state of affairs.

For a minute there I thought this was a post by Agent009. Bitter much 001? Jeepers. Who said the police would disappear and we would have to fend for ourselves? The current model of policing and police unions will likely disappear, but law enforcement will remain. Just a new version that is more intelligent and thoughtful than in the past. People stating they know someone moving likely are forgetting the upswing in city property values that far outstrips the suburbs. Everyone has a number they would sell their house for. And if you can get it and move and not disrupt your life, go for it. But don't blame the current environment. It makes you sound like a moron. Shut off the news and go for a walk or a bike ride. You will feel much better.

Not bitter, just asking real questions. And respectfully, many like those in Minn. Want the police totally gone in favor of a community 'honor system'? From an article today..."Communities will still be 'safe' without cops, says Ilhan Omar - but fails to explain how Americans will be protected or crimes investigated without law enforcement".

It's not only a scary time, it is without reason in my opinion.

I like most Americans love everyone and want everyone to do well and be safe. But that said, if you don't look at the reality and take protective/defense measures then you're putting you and your family at risk.

@Agent001 - Fair enough. I think what you are seeing is the beginning of a conversation in the USA of how best to dispense law enforcement services in a city if the current model does not work any longer. Camden NJ provides a model of community policing. There could be others. It may be that nobody has spent enough time looking into a different model(s). Even in Toronto there have been open statements about best using the police and having an officer stand around directing traffic when a light standard is out or doing other simple duties "stand around" duties DUI check points, Speed enforcement etc, that could be done by another means and for less money. Nobody knows what the answer is today, but the discussion has finally started in earnest.

I'm curious. Who are these intelligent and thoughtful people that would sign up to be a law enforcement officer in the future. Especially when this is what you have to look forward to. Um... no thanks. I fully support our law enforcement officers and it's tragic they cannot go to work and perform their job without fearing for their life. Over 380k violent crimes, 16k murders, and countless assaults committed by the citizens compared to 1k deaths at the hands of officers in 2019. Yet... we are focused on the police as the problem.... Victim mentality shouldn't overrule common sense.

Relocating a home is not an easy task - nor is it cheap - and there is a limit to how far you can actually move a home - due to Wiring limitations as well. Some houses simply cannot be cut up into parts that can be moved and then successfully be put back together. Repairing the cracks in the walls and the sticking doors due to no longer being Plumb is a pain as well. One of my sons actually bought a house and moved it off the property it was on -down the highway about 3 miles - and he would have been better off building a new home.

I live on a real Farm in the country, and would not consider moving - I actually built my own house here (No contractor - took 4 years to finish) and love it.
