UNLUCKIEST LAUNCH EVER? Ford CANCELS Bronco Launch On O.J. Simpson's Birthday To Re-Schedule For The THIRTEENTH?
Ok, let's get this straight. Ford accidentally schedules the 2021 Bronco launch on O.J. Simpson's birthday. Ok, we've heard the story and our sources tell us that yes, it was a weird accident that it coincided with the Juice's birthday.

Next, when this strange occurrence is revealed and the media reaches out to Ford for a comment they reply even though it overlaps, the date won't be changed. Not the BEST move in our opinion. Why not just say we had no idea and we will re-schedule?

Then today, they announce that they ARE changing the date to...wait for it...July THIRTEENTH! No, were not Paraskevidekatriaphobics...it's not scheduled for FRIDAY, the 13th. But STILL, are we been weird here thinking that after that scheduling oddity, that you make look a LITTLE closer at the next choice and say, hey, not double jeopardy...OJ's birthday to the 13th?

Weigh in Spies, would you EVER schedule a reveal of a product THIS important on the 13th?

And we also thought we'd throw in some humor for a little good measure.

Good for Ford. To hell with the hateful, murdering P.O.S. O.J.Simpson.

July 13th is Harrison Ford’s birthday. Coincidence? I think not.

This shows the level of intelligence at work in some marketing/PR departments. It can't be that hard to put a tiny bit of thought into a date for a launch. And you give a news story legs when you don't just fess up that it was an error and you change the date to July 20th. Doing so makes it all goes away.....

But do more people now know that Ford is launching a new Bronco? Either no intelligence or a stroke of genius.

The only bad publicity is NO publicity. Ford benefited from several news cycles worth of coverage due to this accidental (or more likely intentional) 'conincidence' with OJ's birthday.

For better or for worse, the Bronco has been made iconic by the OJ Association (which for all intents and purposes was random back then - whose Bronco was it? Al Cowlings?) and the Bronco performed admirably during the multi-hour car chase.

Good for Ford.

It wouldn't surprise me if they set the date intending to pull it in the first place. It would be a brilliant way to cash in on the current black-people-can-do-no-wrong-ever mindset.
