Now That It's Been Out For A Bit Is The Chevy Silverado Face GROWING On You OR Is It Even MORE Hideous?
Sometimes car/truck designs can be very polarizing. Just harken back to some of the BMW's done by Chris Bangle.

In the beginning to the BMW faithful the new look was as pleasing as a liberal seeing a photo of Trump golfing.

But as time went on, many got used to it and learned to like it and the rest of the industry COPIED it.

So let's do that exercise with the latest Chevy Silverado pickup face.

When it launched the disdain was strong from across the board.

But now that you've seen them in the flesh and on the streets has it grown on you or is it even WORSE?

And if you don't like it tell us what you would do to fix it?

Spies, discuss.

Growing on me but would never buy. The F150 is too nice and the wife LOVES the Dodge Ram... The Chevy might be growing on me but the interior is GM pathetic, "jet black" plastic trash. I'd never buy a GM vehicle as long as the current Mgt Team is in place, I won't support incompetence...

Mary clearly is clueless. Even with the sales surge in vehicles, the Chevy pickups are not walking out the door at or near list like the Ford F trucks are (at the moment).

The Chevy looks as OBNOXIOUS and ridiculously grotesquely ugly as the abhorrent wierd station wagon used in the National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)movie.

People for the most part are creatures of habit. They expect to be able to identify the "face" of the vehicle. Two eyes, a nose and a mouth. Looking at this design you are left guessing where are the headlights. And it goes downhill from there.

At first I didn’t like it at all, but I have to say it has definitely grown on me. I don’t mind it at all.
I think it actually looks pretty aggressive which is nice for a truck.

My company now owns a fleet of GM pick ups - although I admit more are GMC versions - they are the same Vehicle. For companies - the added space between the WHeel wells is more important than the styling of the grill. The extra seven inches - 10% more than others - means carrying more cargo. I do not buy trucks to be luxury transportation for drivers, so the size of the screen display is not as important either. THe seats are just fine for a work truck - and the screen is fine for backing up.

I do much prefer a real - naturally aspirated V8 to any super/turbo 6 cylinder - which actually do not offer better gas mileage in real life - but are far less reliable than a good old Chevy small Block too. The RAM simply cannot compete on reliability in a fleet. As far a depreciation - my trucks will be worthless(By mileage) when I have to replace them so it does not enter into my decisions either.

However - there was a time when GM was known for its Styling - and somehow I cannot understand WHY they chose to give up that advantage - once the head stylist at GM was a star whose name was well known. Styling will not make my decision to buy a work truck. However - it does make many people's decision to buy personal trucks. But for me - my customers look at the price of MY goods - not the style of my trucks.

Nonsense: "The RAM simply cannot compete on reliability in a fleet."

Our long-distance haulers are mostly Rams and they are very reliable.

Why don't you see any Dodges in big fleets or Tundras for that matter? I deal with lots of big contractor outfits -Millwrights, Iron Workers etc that have hundreds of trucks and they run F150's 90% of the time. 9% is Chevy/GM and the remainder is everything else. Fleet managers would know best what is the most relaible trucks to be running you would think?

It's like Lexus and BMW got together and said how can we screw up a truck.

I think the answer to your question depends solely on color and trim - a situation I think will occur when the new 4-Series hits the market as well. My neighbor has one, and it looks quite good - but again the color combo/trim is what makes it look good. On the other hand, I saw one the other day and almost puked, truck looked like it hit every tree down as it fell out of the ugly tree.
