NAME A WORSE LOOKING PORSCHE. We DARE You And Bet You Can't!
Filed under are you f'ing KIDDING us?

So our friends over at Motor1 are showing spy photos of a Porsche Taycan CROSS Turismo.

First of all, does ANYONE want the REGULAR Taycan at 2x the price of a Tesla Model S that gets better range AND has been out for NINE years?

And the answer is you can count the people on your two hands.

So, hell, let's DOUBLE-DOWN with an UGLY version of a car that's not selling.

And we're being KIND. This Cross Tursimo is HIDEOUS. Look at it. Is it the Third Reich edition? Damn thing could roll in a Nazi tribute parade if there WAS such a thing.

Click the read article link to see the photos and tell us if we're RIGHT on or OFF our rockers.

Dear Porsche and all the other Germans. NEWSFLASH! Give it up. You're NEVER beating Tesla. Not if you stand on your heads. So hire the best people at managing declines. We hear Obama is available and has experience.

I have never been a fan of Porsche.

THeir original designs were basically sporty Volkswagons -and over the years the amount of extraneous add-ons (Wings - etc) often made them look like Kit cars - garish at times.

Originally - their handling was best described as being a handful - they were NEVER easy to drive in the beginning - and often unpredictable. While I suppose some would call thant FUN - it really was a long time before their actual handling lived up to its reputation. Meanwhile other sports cars were much more predictable and forgiving and far more desirable to me. Ferrrari's - while a class above as a super car - were always better sorted out for driving. Hell = overpowered Mustangs were better drivers than Porsche.

But a Tesla is still NOT A PORSCHE - they are mass marketed middle premium at best and they have no real prestige compared to a Porsche. THe time has come to stop this nonsense comparison - it just does not exist in the minds of the public. A comparison between a Mercedes S class and the Tesla Model S is a Joke. And the Tesla is being ignored in the styling side - were it is no longer being updated - and getting Long in the tooth. THe Model 3 is in the same class as a Toyota Corolla.

And the longer this Virus continues - the longer we will have cheap gas - and huge budget deficits - that prevents the upgrading of our electrical infastructure to provide enough electricity to support more EVs.

The majority of AMericans still live in Apartments, rental units, and on street housing with no garages and no possibility of installing their own charging stations - so until charging can be reduced to MINUTES - EVS will be something with a promise for the future - but there will be ICE cars long after I am dead.

Porsches history of racing success would seem to be contrary to your views of historically poor handling. Much like most cars of the past, the driver needed a better understanding of the physics of the vehicle. Since then software has taken care of the hammer handed drivers and equalized the field. As far as styling goes, and the "garrish" add ons (side strakes on the Testarossa anyone?), I think every manufacturer has some design that they'd like to forget. Personally, I like a more subtle intrinsic aero design but if a wing makes a car faster where it matters then how can that be denied? The real beauty of Porsche is not the evolutionary design, it's the evolution of engineering lending to a remarkably dependable vehicle that will perform with the highest echelon of vehicles AND spend less time in the shop. Slam a door on a 5 year old 911 and then do it on a Ferrari and see what falls off.

That being said, I really like the look of these shooting brake style cars, the Taycan included. But I am getting more practical as I age. With these electric vehicles matching straight line performance of the ICE vehicles it's getting a lot harder to overlook the benefits of max torque at zero rpm. Which cars pollute more is still a long debate but I think electric vehicles are here to stay especially when you factor in the simplicity/dependability of an electric motor. Now that even faster charging becomes available I can see that people won't be as reliant on personal garages as they can charge at work or when shopping.

So we're making scathing remarks about a car that's camouflaged and has lipstick on its taillights?

If it looks anything like the Panamera Sport Turismo, it will look pretty good.

Panamera - the love child of the 928 and an AMC Pacer.

Sort of like the Ferrari FF 'the station wagon Ferrari' that was sold from about 2012 to 2018, the proportions of the Panamera Gran Turismo are really all wrong.

Ferrari corrected the styling mistake with the GTC4/Lusso which is much better looking (but not much more popular it seems) and I guess Porsche realized that it needs to do the same.

The Panamera Gran Turismo is a great idea in a poor package. I had one for three days as a service loaner from Porsche Southampton and it had much more usable space inside than a normal Panamera (which really can't be used as a family car because there are only two rear seats and they are very claustrophobic). The Gran Turismo is airy and spacious inside and if Porsche cleans up the design it will likely sell much better.

The Panamera is a great vehicle by the way and I have often wondered why Porsche does not market it as a two-door coupe and/or cabriolet.

Porsche would sell a ton of two-door Panameras. They could either name it the "928" or else give it a name like the "Ferry" (as in Ferdinand Porsche) or the Florio (as in the Targa Florio). Else the could cancel the stupid 911 Targa and just make it the Targa Gran Turismo.

Wow, could you be more jingoistic? Is the Ferrari FF/GTC4Lusso a fascist Mussolini mobile, too? This is the kind of BS clickbait nonsense that has turned this website into garbage over the years.

People like the Panamera Cross Turismo, so it makes sense to make a Taycan version, given the model similarities. The end.

This will look good once the camo comes off.

This car is going to look very good once the camo is removed. One can even tell now, with a little imagination, that the C Pillar Will be way different, and the original tail lights are slim. It's all good.

The Panamera is like that blind date you were fixed up with and all they would tell you is “she has a Great Personality!”
