New Car Sales Dry Up In June As Inventories Bottom Out

Sales are down because we can't get stock, but not because people are afraid of the China virus and won't leave their houses. Traffic at dealers is heavy, but people are leaving because there is very little to buy. Fleet sales are also down because we can't get stock.

Sundays are usually aged filet mignons from the Harris Ranch and martinis by the pool. Typically my two in-town brothers, their spouses, and kids show up. Sometimes my wife's family calls us to congregate at their house across the river. The more the merrier. Margaritas are what stupid white trash drink because they can't handle alcohol.

My income is derived from:

a company that owns mom-and-pops body shops
a transportation company with six haulers
a classic car flipping business run parallel to the body shops
and I'm a junior member/owner in an automotive group with dealers in various cities in California.

Although I have a physical office locally, most of my day is internet and video conferencing. Once a week, I go to Newport Beach for in in-person meeting. Because of my degrees, most of my time with the dealer group is with HR and customer relations, though it's fun to dabble in actual sales.

We have a 20 day supply of F150s right now and we typically have a 60-90 day inventory. We made the mistake of bird-dogging sales during the China virus lockdown when we didn't lock down and we made deals based on the information suggestion we were headed for a massive recession. We'd have a boom right now if we could get product and if we had not been so handy to deplete stock by giving good deals.
