California Air Resources Board Mandates 100% Zero Emission Trucks By 2030

The nation’s toughest clean-air mandate on trucks was approved Thursday by the California Air Resources Board.

In effect, the board ordered manufacturers of medium-duty and heavy-duty commercial trucks to begin selling zero-emission versions in 2024, with 100,000 sold in California by 2030 and 300,000 by 2035.

Typical Liberals hellbent on destroying the California economy.

Just wait until they pass a law banning diesel fuel... Then only EV trucks will be allowed on the road. Most shipments from outside the state will cease or become very expensive.

Truck drivers will not be able to afford buying new trucks that will cost double or more the price of a conventional truck. I am 100% certain that California will ban diesel and destroy the economy now 50 billion dollars in debt from having had a tidy surplus three months ago.

There is no automotive industry more cost driven than trucking, cost per mile is really where it all comes down. Between Tesla and Nicola, it should be a no brainer for companies to switch over. Range has been the main issue in the past, but we're close to semi's with 500+ miles of range that should reduce traffic and improve safety with better acceleration and driver assist features. 2030 is more than fair, especially since the driver may no longer be a cost by then.

The main issue is cost. There is not one EV on the market that costs the same as a comparable ICE vehicle. The Model 3 is at base massively more expensive than a base CamCordOptiNata.

Long term maintenance and fuel/energy costs drop significantly making an EV even with a higher initial cost, likely the most cost effective option with an overall lower TCO. and like you say... even the driver may end up AI by 2030.

This "Long term maintenance and fuel/energy costs drop significantly making an EV..." is NOT a proven fact longitudinally.

There is no equivalent car to the Model 3 that costs less. Must have similar performance and features.

The Model 3 is CamCord level car, so yes, there are cars like it that cost less...a LOT less.

Nah, BMW 3 series. Even if you compare it to a Camry, the 5 year running costs are less on the Model 3. 46 cents per mile versus 49 cents per mile, 12k miles a year. More miles is an even better ROI for the Model 3.

What are the libs doing about the oil and coal power plants the 'zero emission' vehicles need to recharge their batteries?

Everyone will be dead from Covid by then, so it's sort of a moot point.

To answer @skytop's stupid post, I'd check who is running each state first before I commented. Maybe open a book too.

More often than not a given US State has a GOP governor and the GOP is also in control of the State legislature too. Big investments like dams, nuclear power plants, wind farms, natural gas plants are made at the State level as the investment costs are so big. So if you want to know why the USA lags behind in clean energy, it's the same answer as to why unlike 32 other nations it does not have universal healthcare, or reasonable gun laws, or balanced congressional districts, is wasting so much money on defence or has available voting in all areas of the country and accepts mail in voting.

The GOP .

It does not work on behalf of the American people, it works for the causes their donors want to see happen. IE like giving subsidies to the Oil industry or letting the NRA influence policy or allow GMO's in your food. And they remain in power because idiots continue to support and vote for them.

November is coming and it is quickly shaping up to being a national house cleaning of everyone who has been holding America back from advancing forward like the rest of the world.....
