Are You In? Germany Is Betting The Industry's Future On EV Vehicles

Earlier in June the German government announced a huge economic stimulus package with sweeping incentives pushing the country toward an electric transit future. In all, the country will be spending some 130 billion euros on an economic recovery plan that involves cash for Germans buying electric cars, a widespread growth of its charging infrastructure, and investment in public transit.

It makes sense that the country is doing what it can to push electrification. In addition to the country’s desire to lower its emissions totals, automakers like VW have leaned in to the whole EV thing, and what’s good for VAG is probably good for DE.

This is what a logic approach to a big problem (pollution) looks like. Nice if your nation can afford to do so. The opposite of this is what is happening right now in the USA with likely 20 Million people walking around with the COVID-19 virus and cases spiking in Florida and Texas. Poor leadership leads to poor results. Better leadership leads to better results. Having intelligent citizens who can follow a plan helps too.

There it is everyone. The Grand Wizard of fascist socialism has spoken. There is no right to freedom of choice. Your captors will tell you what you may have.

@MD- If you bother to READ the article it is a goal with govt (tax payer) money behind it to encourage people to choose to buy an EV. No one is taking away your car and nobody is making you choose one as your next car. The USA has shown it can't do the right things to keep COVID-19 under control. If you live in the USA stay home and if you go out where a mask and wash your hands. 20M active cases will jump to 100m in a very short time. Be proactive.

CC you’ve really been indoctrinated. What the EU Bureaucrats In Brussels are doing through the German Government is called Social Engineering.

As far as the spikes in COVID-19 cases in the USA, it’s real simple 1+1=2. In the past few weeks just as efforts of reducing the spread were showing great results the media and Democrat politicians were encouraging Nationwide mass gatherings of protesters in the Tens of Thousands in support of a violent Marxist group. Don’t worry about Covid it’s a worthy cause.

Then act shocked and blame Trump when there is a spike in cases centered in the same age group that was the majority of the protesters.

Companies that are slower to adopt EVs will likely die out or become irrelevant, just like every previous disruptive shift over the past several decades.

It is the future, it is important that we reduce greenhouse gases... seems like a good idea. However I have to say I would be ok with an ICE or any other type of engine that produces no greenhouse gases or other pollution.. just does not seem likely.

Has anyone taken the plunge and bought a battery powered lawn mower? EGO brand or others? I was WAY ahead of the curve and had a Black and Decker model back in 2000. It was a brick at 85lbs and did not last long. I hear the new ones are better. Having said that I see a lot of Exmark Commercial 21 models being used by service people in my area. Red with black wheels, they are the Ferrari of lawn mowers.
