Chevrolet Drops Base Colorado Pickup Leaving NOTHING Below $24,000
For a short, short while, the base Chevrolet Colorado was the cheapest new truck out there. It claimed that title when Nissan killed off the four-cylinder variant of its Frontier, and the Chevy stood as the only new pickup under $24,000...for one month. Now, however, the lowliest Colorado has been axed, meaning its starting price for the 2021 model year has lept to $26,395 after delivery.

Neither the Ranger or the Colorado are good values in their base models, so buyers went one level up and demanded discounts down to base, so by eliminating the base Colorado, Chevy creates the false impression that the new mid-model-as-base is the base and sales staff will lie and say "we all know there is no profit in base cars".

When the Courier arrives, Ford will be able to point to a more affordable solution. The Hyundai Santa Cruz--if marketed well--has an excellent chance of siphoning off Ranger/Canyorado sales.

I believe the Santa Cruz has the same possibility of being successful as the Stinger, which is to say that it will also be an unmitigated sales disaster, which you will then blame on "marketing" two years from now.

Crossoverpickups are bound to be a "thing" sooner or later. You're comparing apples to oranges because logic and clear thought eludes you as always.

As for the Stinger, it was not advertised nor were there sweetheart leases as there should have been.

Stinger was just too expensive at launch and no current discount will erase that awful mistake.

Chevy used to be a company that sold some inexpensive truck models for the working man who had limited funds. Not any more!

Ditto Ford.

What happened to basic pickups that cost the same as entry cars?

They aren't huge sellers, so the manufacturers said bye to them. Try to buy a short-bed, two-door pickup...
