Kia K5 Vs The Segment's Best-Sellers: Would You Choose A K5 Over A Camry, Accord Or Altima?

Last year, Toyota sold more than three times as many Camry sedans as Kia did the Optima in the US. In fact, the latter has consistently failed to keep up with the segment’s top three models in terms of sales for the past several years.

The Optima has now been put to rest, with the 2021 K5 taking over as the Korean carmaker’s weapon of choice in the non-premium midsize segment.

Altimas are low-grade shit down with the Passat for having issues.

I'd go with the Camry then an OptiNata (K5=Sonata...best deal wins), then the ugly Accord.

I'd buy a used one in 3 years after the 55% depreciation hit.

Local dealers on the east coast often sell Kia cars at such HIGH immediate discounts - that some people will be drawn in by the huge difference in FINAL TAKE HOME PRICE. The fact that the hybrid uses a regular Planetary automatic rather than a CVT might be a reason for some to buy it as well. But they are certainly Not buying without the discounts.

Disregarding the blatant sales & constant pricing reduction, I'd take the K5. But it would have to be the AWD 2.5L 4-cyl turbo version.

It's basically the "lite" version of the newest K900 - when fully loaded w/AWD, TT-V6 - is fairly slick & quite understated for a mature, business-class sedan.
