China Still Want To Break Into The US Auto Market- But Haven't They Screwed It All Up By Now?
Just as the coronavirus pandemic was plunging the U.S. auto industry into crisis and stripping millions of car sales from stunned retailers, Duke Hale was searching for American factory space to assemble Chinese crossovers for his Southern California startup.

Hale, CEO of HAAH Automotive Holdings, partnered with China's Chery Automobile Co. this year to bring a new U.S. brand — called Vantas — to life, even as pandemic uncertainties swept across the industry. But just as remarkable, HAAH and Chery are aiming to succeed at something that half a dozen Chinese brands have failed at since about 2005: entering the U.S. market.

Lol Americans love a good deal, as long as it’s packed with value/decent looks and undercuts rivals in price, Americans will show up.

Just leave all the knock off trash in China

Agreed - but Americans also bought some real CHEAP junk - like the Yugo and the original Hyundai they brought here.

THere is a class of American customers who cannot afford an American level new car. Huge discounts allow some of them to buy Korean Cars - and others likely will buy cheap Chinese Cars too.

As is normal - it will take DECADES for the really Cheap Chinese cars to make a reputation of "quality" in the USA - and the problem is - they cannot do it the way the Japanese did it - by making very stripped - basic - but reliable cars. Today's cars still have to have a lot of once were extras. And Remember - AMericans are accustomed to more power than these cars are built with in China as well. But if they make them cheap enough -THere are some really worthless Used dar salepeople what will sell them -- anything for a buck!

I've been to two Chinese brand presentations where two companies wanted to sell franchises to build a dealer chain only to get cold feet and not follow through.

At one point Geely planned to sell Geelys through Volvo dealers as the "Hyundai" brand to Volvo's "Genesis"--which would have been a godsend to Volvo dealers--then Geely ran scared.

If Mary Barra had any brains and it's clear she doesn't, she'd get more stock of the Buick Envision here from China to give Buick/GMC dealers some units on the ground.

China is not your friend or anyone else's.

After they decided to occupy the Parcel Islands and commandeer the South China Sea, the USA and its allies should have stepped forward to bombed all of these militarized islands back to sand. And likely accidently sank it's one and only Aircraft carrier. Doing so would send a very clear message to the management.

Left alone, China is going to become a very, very big problem to deal with if they are allowed to build up a military that rivals that of the USA. Better to deal with them now while they are weak versus later when you have far less options.

When did you become a Trumpster? He’s the only that’s been screaming from the mountaintop for years, while the Globalist like the Bushes, Clintons and Obama sold off our manufacturing base to China, that put us in a very bad position when the CCP launched CV19. we had to rely on China for our PPE, Pharmaceuticals etc which those administrations allowed to be offshored to China.

1st message to send is for Japan to be armed with nukes and build up their military, while beginning to decouple from the Chinese economy and denying the access to our Capital Markets.

That’s really what the upcoming US election is all about, the Globalist Political Elite that have enabled China for 25 years in the delusional belief that the Chinese Communist Party would become a liberal democracy where the world could have open borders with everyone being in a Coke commercial “teaching the World to Sing” and meeting at the international debate society (UN) to have lunch to figure out how to siphon off More revenue from the western democracies.

That vs a realistic World view of the Sovereign Nationalist who understands that their primary responsibility is to protect and defend their own country first, while working with like minded countries for common goals.

@CommunistComments, you're an ignorant dumb ass: "China is going to become a very, very big problem to deal with if they are allowed to build up a military that rivals that of the USA."

They ALREADY have that capacity, moron.

Their military capacity is no where near that of the USA, but they are trying to gain rapidly, And in some areas are equal maybe even surpassing. (Hypersonic Missiles) but in the blue water naval they are working on getting their 2nd carrier group together. The USA has 11, hence the development of hypersonic missiles.

Everyone knows that the US Air Force is the largest in the world. What most don’t realize is that the 2nd largest Air Force in the world is the US Navy.

@MD- One Chinese aircraft carrier and their associated Navy does not equal in any way shape or form the capability the USA has. Read more. Post less.
