MISSED Opportunity and 1 MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION? Should Ford Have Offered A 2021 Bronco With The Mustang Mach-E Electric Motor?
Yesterday was a big day for car lovers with the launch of the new 2021 Ford Bronco. And from the reaction Ford hit it OUT of the park.

Full disclosure, I ordered one myself. It was a nightmare because the servers were a mess and the order didn't go in for about 3 hours. But it finally worked.

And an owner of 5 JK Wranglers and one JL my initial opinion is the Bronco has made the Wrangler look ANCIENT.

But there is ONE thing they didn't do that they COULD have done that would have made the launch EVEN better.

What is that 001 you ASK?

They COULD have announced there would ALSO be a Mach-E electric model. Am I right?

And do you think that it is in the cards and SHOULD it be?

It's not too late, it may be in the works.

Considering the mandate for this vehicle is to go out into the wilderness and have fun. I would think it would never come available as a BEV.

The question is idiotic given the radical differences in the two platforms.

Shoehorning EV platforms into ICE vehicles does not work well.

If you knew how much had to be cut from this program or postponed, you wouldn't ask such an elementary question.

Hybrid has been in limbo, let alone discussing this.

Yes. There's a 90% chance my next new vehicle purchase will be electric. Bronco is the only possible ICE model I'm considering, but I'll likely make the rational choice and go electric.

HECK YES!!!

The top end model should have been an EV. I can see concerns regarding going offroad and being away from a charger, but the Bronco is not very large and I think they could get 400 miles from a double-stacked battery on the bottom.

Also, a cool idea would be to use solar panels for BOTH the roof and the detachable doors. When you're camping connect them all the pieces together and you might be able to get 30-40 miles a day of charge while powering everything you need to camp.

Another lost opportunity is using the HVAC system to capture humidity from the air and produce purified drinking water on demand. I think you'll see this on several upcoming outdoorsy EVs.

SJD: Interesting comments but >>>> A Bronco / Jeep buyer is more of a meat & potatoes guy and not a vegan / solar panel guy >>> I could be wrong !!!

Electric could be amazing for offroad...but only if designed from a clean sheet of paper.
