Massachusetts Lyft And Uber Drivers Sue For Benefits Even Though 75% Work Less Than 20 Hours

Massachusetts on Tuesday followed California in suing Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. over allegedly misclassifying their drivers as independent contractors instead of employees entitled to extensive benefits.

The complaint filed in Suffolk Superior Court claims Uber and Lyft violate state minimum wage, hour and sick time laws.

I drove Uber for a while when I was in between jobs last year. Most of them deserve benefits. I drive a shit load more than 20 hours though. I drove 7 days a week about 10 hours a day. They offer perks but none as good as benefits. A free Subway sandwich is not a health plan!
