Tesla Model 3 Resale Value Retains Almost A WHOPPING 90% After 3 Years! Would YOU EVER Buy A USED EV?
Everything seems to be going right for Tesla these days. Now, another study shows crazy resale values for the Model 3.

“The Tesla Model 3 is the vehicle with the lowest depreciation overall, depreciating more than 5 times less than the average for the segment. “The Tesla Model 3 is still very much in high demand since it started production in 2017. Even though it doesn’t present a bargain compared to its new car price, it offers consumers a more affordable option for owning a Tesla.”

Here is a comparison chart that shows some other EV's:

One of the things that mystifies me is who on earth would ever buy a USED electric vehicle knowing how poor the resale is on many of them?

Would YOU ever buy one?

Why buy a used Tesla then? Just order it online exactly how you want it.

Buying any late-model EV used is probably dumb for a mountain of reasons.

Buying an EV new is dumb.

You lease them.

If you're getting a used EV, get one of the ones that depreciated like crazy. For Tesla, you're usually better off buying or leasing a new one given how quickly they update the cars. You for sure want a Tesla with HW3 Autopilot and MCU2 for the entertainment center.

But supposedly that gives the buyer by far the best price according to all Teslarati here.

Any middleman is going to drive up price, the question is whether that middleman provides enough value to justify the markup. In some cases I would argue it does (ex: a realtor)

Price fixing drives the price up.

Price fixing drives up the price if you have a monopoly or cartel (OPEC), but otherwise you're still limited to supply and demand. Tesla dropped prices recently because demand must have fallen. If they could keep charging higher prices I don't think they would have made that move.
