In 2020, They Are SO Good. So WHY Don’t HYBRIDS Get The LOVE They DESERVE?
It seems like in every article you read about cars in the comments or questions SOMEONE always has to ask "Will there be an ELECTRIC version?"

For many, it wouldn't matter if the answer 100% of the time was yes, there is still NO chance that same person would EVER buy one if there was.

And it was funny when I posted this article about should Ford have announced an EV version of the Bronco many of the media people I know were like dude, there was no need to even HINT there might be a "Bronco Mach-E" version. I respectfully said watch the comments and within minutes, they started to come in. YES, 100% there should be an EV version and I'm disappointed they didn't say one is in development!

Again, they're never going to BUY an EV version of the Bronco, but it's a must those questions MUST be asked.

We won't see an EV Bronco for a long time if ever but there IS a chance there COULD be a hybrid version.

But for those asking that will NEVER be enough. If it's not FULL EV you're a lying, dog-faced pony soldier to them. Or something like that.

And I have to say it mystifies me. Because I love hybrids MORE than full EV's. Leased my two '00's 2019 Fusion Hybrids and they absolutely LOVE them. 44mpg around town and zero trade off. And the funny thing was the lease price was LESS than the gas version!

Seeing I will do limited off-roading in my Bronco and virtually NEVER do extreme stuff, I would 100% buy the hybrid version if there was one.

So tell us Spies, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH GOOD OLD FASHIONED HYBRIDS? And WHY don't they get the praise they deserve?

Probably because the EV-fanatics feel it should be all or nothing. As a PHEV driver, it's made a tremendous difference in my total cost of driving (very much for the better), as well as many miles driven without tailpipe emissions. And living in WA, the majority of our electricity comes from hydro. I have really come to enjoy the quiet ride, and get annoyed if the engine has to fire for heat or to climb a long hill. Unless the wife insists on sticking with a PHEV (and she might) I'll go pure electric when my lease is up.

Hybrids are compromised from the start because designers have to account for a big heavy lump of metal in the front and a liquid gasoline potential bomb in the rear along with associated red-hot metal exhaust piping.

Full EV’s have the benefit of not being compromised for what they are. The skateboard design that is prevalent does not suffer from design compromises made to fit an ICE.

There is a market for the compromise Hybrid as well as the Pure EV. Both are needed for the near term as the transition away from fossil fuels evolves.

Two counter points. A gasoline tank is not a bomb. Gas will bur,but risk of an explosion is minimal. However, the risk of a fire in an under-engineered EV is much higher.
The "compromise" you refer to eliminates range anxiety and is not much of a compromise. It is the best of both worlds.
EV only people tend to be posers.

@Truthy As an Alt-Leftie rockreid believes everything he sees. So, when he sees cars blow up in movies, he believes it's true. He doesn't believe in science (i.e. the real thing) but trusts in "the science" which is the false narrative fed to his feeble, low-capacity brain.

Repair cost
any money you save at the gas pump will be needed IF a repair is in your future

Second gen. priuses with a quarter million miles on the clock and still going tend to disagree.

Hybrids ironically are outmoded technology. ICE is at the pinnacle of its development and all-ICE is much more satisfying than hybrid-ICE. I'm not interested in a sports car that is a hybrid. I'd rather have the displacement or turbos even. I'd rather have an EV sports car even with charge issues than a hybrid. EVs are nowhere near the pinnacle of their development, but (1) they are gaining ground fast and (2) they are obviously the way forward once obstacles are overcome. Be that as it may, these days you either go full ICE or EV. Hybrids just aren't the payoff they were when the first ugly Prius arrived.

Calling the Prius ugly is being generous.

That's what I like about you. Nothing inflammatory. LOL
I do agree about hybrid cars. That was a good solution that has not been developed. EVs are likely the future, but this technology does not beat ICEs on cost or practicality. And nothing stirs the soul like a rumbling V-8.
