Which Auto Brand Or Brands Have YOU Decided To Say NEVER AGAIN To?
If you're like me you've been fortunate enough to own a number of vehicles over the years.

Some great, some unforgettable (both good or bad), some just ok and SOME that have taken you to the point of utter disdain.

You know the ones. Those that from the moment you drove it off the lot you just knew that you may have made a terrible decision.

And they sucked so much energy and happiness out of you that you made that two word decision we all must face at some point. NEVER AGAIN.

Tell us if there is a brand or BRANDS that disappointed you so much that you could never put yourself through that experience again. And tell us which model/models and why.

I'll be the first to start...VW. I've had MANY over the years, mostly in the 80's but the most recent was a 2007 Passat. None of the models i had through the years were ever truly reliable, most had awful resale and they made me hate German cars for a while. So which is YOUR I'm TOTALLY over you Brand/Brands? For GOOD.

VW. Wife had a passat and then touareg when we were dating. Couldn’t get rid of them fast enough.

My wife's first car at 16 was a new Jetta. Total shit show. When she went to college, she got a new Jetta. Another total shit show.

I alway had bad experiences with GM products! I never buy another GM vehicle. They fall apart faster then Japanese or Ford products do.

GM is notorious for (1) not rigorously testing its prototypes but (2) putting cars that are unfinished with their testing into production.

Pretty much all of them. Startups/independents from now on.

Honda! Racing MX and street bikes in the 70s gave me a lot of respect for Honda’s engineering abilities. 2 Accords in the 80s totally changed that view.

Mercedes-Benz. I love the way it drives, but there has not been one system that has not failed. The front right side damper was not installed correctly. The driver side inside door handle became disengaged. This has never happened to me on nay car I have owned. The dealer tried to charge me $1000 to fix, but settled for half that amount. The list goes on and on.
German engineering?!?

We had a Mercedes GL that was 100% reliable, but all sorts of little things went wrong on it that would be intolerable on a Toyota. We outgrew it for an Escalade that has been flawless. My wife has an X7 and it's an excellent vehicle, but it too has had minor things go wrong that would be intolerable on a Toyota. My current company loaner is an XT6 that I've had a couple of days, so we'll see how that goes. It's making an unscheduled trip to Tucumcari fairly soon.

What is your take on the XT6?

It's definitely not terrible. The Telluride is much better though for less money. It's very much a "Hail Mary" vehicle like the Continental was for Lincoln.

The XT6 is pretty much an XT5 with a different body. Wheelbase is nearly identical. It stickered for $67K and the Telluride is $20K less more or less comparably equipped, though we've not sold one XT6 at list price or above.

It drives OK but no better than the mechanically similar Traverse, Acadia, or Envision. It's competent but so is mainstream, so why buy premium?

It's a really great $45K vehicle and it would have been a hit if Cadillac had given it a name and used it to REPLACE the lackluster XT5.

I think I will like it better than the Explorer (oy vey) but it's no Telluride.

Lexus - From a reliability standpoint, my worst car by a comfortable mile. Very disappointing and surprising. And amongst today's cars, for me, the brand just don't compete when there are other options that are just better in every category. The only possible exception might be the LC500.

Infiniti - Not a single car in their lineup even blips the interest meter for me. Where I used to practically lust after the original G35 Coupe or FX45, everything is so..."there"... with this brand. I thought the Q60 would change that a bit, but no. I can't think of a single model that truly competes at the top of its respective segment.

Audi - ok, so they aren't necessarily on a "never again" point for me, but they are getting really, really close. I was in love with my S5 and its 4.2L V-8 and gorgeous design. The brand at the time had many desirables. Since then, as models have been redesigned, they're moving farther away from my list of potentials.
