Three of the Mustang Mach-E 1400’s 7 motors are attached to the front differential, and four are attached to the rear in pancake style. There’s a single driveshaft connecting them to the differentials. Ford says this setup maximized “adjustability,” allowing the car to transform from a high-speed track racer to a drift machine.

This is probably related to the video that circulated of the bumperless (sic) Mach E prototype that was doing drifting. Perhaps a track app for drifting is in the works.

I was wondering when they would start adding more than one motor per wheel. This can allow different motor types and gearings in the motors. Instead of wasting weight on transmissions (aka Porsche) you might as well throw in a couple smaller motors optimized for different speeds.
