Have You Ever Bought A Vehicle With An EXTERIOR You DIDN'T Like Or Vice Versa With An INTERIOR?

Have You Ever Bought A Vehicle With An EXTERIOR You DIDN'T Like Or Vice Versa With An INTERIOR?
One thing is for sure. NOTHING is perfect. And that includes vehicles.

I can't tell you how many times I've been excited with a new ride and when i looked at it in person either the exterior or interior let me down for one or many reasons.

You would THINK, those would be deal breakers 100% of the time. But I know in my case an others SOMETIMES it isn't.

I'll give you an example for me. The Bangle era 7-Series.

I remember seeing the photos and thinking WTH but I remained positive thinking I'll wait until I see it in the flesh before i decide.

So when the first ones came into the dealer, I hurried down there and guess what? I HATED the look EVEN MORE!

But boy, in the world of luxury sedans on the interior, the tech and the drive dynamics it was a light year ahead of the competition.

So I held my nose and leased one. And WHEN it worked (not very often and was bought back by BMW) I love it. But no matter how long I tried to like the exterior, I just couldn't get converted.

So tell us have you or friends you knwo ever had the same experience? Where even though you didn't like the exterior or interior, you still ended up becoming an owner.

If so, tell us the year, make, model and WHY you ended up buying them.

I’m currently leasing a new Legacy Touring XT. I certainly wouldn’t say that I was drawn to its exterior (although I don’t hate it). I was drawn to its interior though, which is stunning at its price point.

My son's Honda Type R...exterior too boy racer for someone my age, interior just fine with great seats and it drives fantastic. If it weren't for the exterior I would buy one in a heartbeat. Great driver's car.

I won't buy a car that I dislike the exterior of. This is why I will never own a C8; it's ill-proportioned, ungainly, and ugly. The Explorer that I had for a while recently constantly reminded me of how ugly I thought it looked and I just could never own something and every time I walk toward it be reminded of how ugly it is.

Can't say I've experienced either. The first draw for me is exterior styling, so I would never even consider a car that I don't find attractive (along with my other requirements for a car, of course). There are very few car interiors that would be deal breakers for me, also.

One car that does come to mind, though, where I really like the exterior but the interior is pretty bad is the current Toyota Avalon. And no Subaru would get my dollars based on BOTH exterior and interior styling.

I only buy vehicles that I love - inside and out. I do not lease, so I don't have the mentality of 'I'll try it and if I hate it, I'll just give it back 36 months from now).

I like to keep my cars as long as I want to keep them - most often at least three and more often 7 years. I don't drive that much (I have four cars amongst two drivers) and so after 7 years they have covered at most 45,000 miles and the exotics more like 10,000 miles (I have two dailies and two exotics).

If I don't like it, I don't buy it.

On the cars that you keep for 3 years, you're money ahead to lease.

MINI Cooper, loved the outside, but the interior was bauhaus misery, especially the speedometer the size of a dinner plate.
