2020 Indianapolis 500 Still On Target But At Only 25% Capacity
The dream of running this year's Indianapolis 500 with fans may be quickly fleeting. While Roger Penske and Co. once had ambitions of hosting the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" at full capacity after delaying it to August, plans have been curtailed once again. Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Tuesday that the event's 104th running will take place at just 25-percent capacity for fans with mandatory face coverings for everyone in attendance.

Indy is as pointlessly boring as NASCAR.

Great race, great history. Was reading last night about the INDY 50 which is scheduled for October 2021. While not a fan of autonomously driven cars this race will be interesting to see. All cars will be driverless, must finish 20 laps (50 miles) in 25 minutes or less (at 120 miles per hour or more). How aggressive and how much risk these cars are programmed to try to win $1.5 million prize could be interesting or like watching grass grow?

This is what happens when you have poor leadership. It could have been over and done with by now. But mass gatherings like this are just a bad plan even when you have COVID-19 nearly beat. There will be no home games for the Blue Jays in Toronto. Football season might have a shot but who knows. If they can safely do it with 25% capacity and everyone well spaced than maybe. Watching F-1 races with no fans means zero to me as a viewer. Indy 500 would be the same. Just bad for the stadium that does not get the expected ticket revenue....
