Rivian Sued For Stealing Trade Secrets And Poaching Employees

Tesla Inc. accused Rivian Automotive Inc. in a lawsuit of an “alarming pattern” of poaching its employees and stealing trade secrets.

The world’s leading electric-vehicle maker alleged that four of its former workers took highly sensitive proprietary information as they left to work for the rival startup, and Tesla said it suspects there are at least two more culprits.

It sounds like Tesla may have some fear regarding the future of Rivian. I live in the town Rivian is producing its vehicles and have attended local events about the new car company. Their founder (RJ) is a standup guy and, depsite his MIT degree, he is very down to earth.

But Rivian doesn't have any technology that Tesla doesn't have too, so neither will be adequate replacements for ICE pickups in the near future.

This happens in the Silly Valley all the time. There is some value in trying to retain people, but since the companies have zero loyalty so do the employees. It's a very toxic place.

Some consider cross-pollination to be healthy for an industry. People expect certain features and services as they compare various offerings. Agree with CountGuy this suit won't go far.
