OVERALL, Since Becoming President, Has Donald Trump Been GOOD Or BAD For The USA Car And Related Businesses Overall?
Because we're all car fans even when politics gets involved we tend to look at it in a multi-faceted way.

Sure, you look at where a candidate stands on issues, etc. BUT as car people and people in the business who read Auto Spies, being a POSITIVE influence on the USA car business overall, MATTERS to all of us.

And it's true that it's not a one person show at the top so there is party involvement on both sides.

So the question we want answered is what is Donald Trump's report card grade ONLY for auto related actions?

This is not about how you feel about COVID or healhtcare, ONLY cars and the USA car related industry, which includes electric and gas.

Tell us 1. Has he been a positive or negative influence for the business. 2. DID you vote for him or not in 2016 and 3. Will you be voting for him in Nov.?

Spies, discuss...

Overall no real impact. Things were going quite well when he came into office and most of those trends that had been going on for 6-7 years continued...except the annual budget deficit which exploded under Trump. That however will (and would have even without COVID-19) have long term consequences to the entire economy.

No mention about CAFE efficiency standards? That is a massive change that hugely benefits manufacturing in the US.

Overall Impact:

Lower costs, thousands of lives saved, and minimal impact to fuel consumption and the environment.
$200 billion reduction in total costs over the lifetimes of vehicles through MY 2029, including the value of increased safety
$100 billion reduction in regulatory costs
$1,400 reduction of total consumer cost of ownership per new vehicle
More than $1,000 reduction in sales price per new vehicle
2.7 million additional new vehicles sold

Not really, that’s offset by US cars being less competitive globally and in addition the impact of that rule change has not really been felt yet.

If you call 20+% unemployment good! Joe Biden will be the next U.S. President for the next 8 years with a Democratic controlled House and Senate. He will remove the Wall and start to get thinks right again like getting people back to work again!

If you want to call it the China virus, fine, however the response in this country has been disastrous! We are absolutely the worst at responding to this, except maybe Brazil. Therefore if you want to call it the China virus, we should refer to it as the TrumPandemic.

I blame Cuomo for all the nursing home deaths, for families not being allowed to hold funerals while letting protestors gather at will. Dirty politics.

As far as the car business as a whole, I think his impact has been somewhere between neutral and negative. The $1T tax cut did not do regular folks much good. But it help rich people and corporations. The economy was continuing on the path it has been on for the last 3 years. The lack of a credible response to COVID-19 has hurt the USA and hurt the economy and regular people immensely. And thus their ability to buy cars.

A grade of C+ on his impact on the car business
No I did not vote for him in 2016
No I will not be voting for him in 2020

Trump has been brilliant for business. With the prosperity he ushered in car sales are doing well--ironically even in the light of the manufactured pandemic Pelosibitch and Nancyboy keep hammering away at. Sales are excellent new and used.

Joe Biden will never be POTUS. The man is already senile and has to hide in his basement to avoid interviews. When he does surface for interviews, his handlers have to cut off the news feed for fear of him embarrassing himself. The debates will show him to be completely incompetent and senile. There is no enthusiasm for Biden in his own party. OTOH Republicans are chomping at the bit to vote for Trump again.

Trump has been the best thing for business since Reagan. If it were not for the obstructionist dhims in the House, our country would be much further along on the path to prosperity.

There is good reason to believe that the GOP will win the House, retain the Senate and win the presidency again.

Trump inherited a very good economy, just look at any chart covering the last 10 years on the stock market, unemployment etc... you could almost lay a ruler on any of them starting in late 2009. Oh except the annual deficit which exploded under Trump from roughly 450B to over 1.2T. We should have been cutting the deficit during a good economy like say Germany did. In any case you would have thought dumping over a 1/2+B into an already strong economy it should have done even better! It seems that someone is always left cleaning up the Republicans mess (Bush 1, Bush 2 and now Trump?). Fiscal conservatives are long gone...

Trumps biggest accomplishment as POTUS is that he has inspired confidence with the American consumer and businesses which has lead to massive capital spending on retooling and modernization for efficiencies after the anti business "You didn't build that" worst Pres ever -Hussien.

Trump has also successfully diverted many businesses from locating to Mexico or Canada and instead move to the US (with all those jobs) because of the uncertainty of NAFTA and playing it safe by building stateside in case any trade deals were terminated. This has cost Canada dearly and we have witnessed many US companies divest here and some big Canadian companies relocate to the US as the taxation is now more favourable and access to capital markets is much more substantial.

The Middle East is a lot more stable these days as Trump doesn't fuck around with imaginary red lines and isn't scared to bitchslap these bad actors unlike the Apologist Pres was to his Muslim masters. Moving the US Embassy to Jerusalems to show support for Israel and her rightful land was pretty cool too. Clinton, Bush and the community organizer all said they wanted to do it but only Trump had the balls to make it happen. He is a braggadocios fool at times and should exercise more restraint and I look forward to the Biden debates.

Not sure I agree with all that, however for sure agree we should be wary of wars and involvement in stuff that makes no difference to us, especially in the Middle East!

Obummer's economy was a jobless recovery. When Trump took over the unemployment rate cratered. He had the lowest unemployment rate for blacks and hispanics EVER. As a consequence, what you're going to find is blacks and hispanics defecting to Trump in larger numbers than liberals ever imagined - and it will be enough to swing the election.

What have dhims ever done for minorities? Look at the major cities run by dhims - all have major violent crime waves in the form of shooting and murders. 50 people were shot in Chicago alone this weekend. That's a war zone!

Actually more jobs were added in the last 3 years of Obama than the first three years of Trump. Trump does a better job of bragging than Obama but that’s the facts, look them up.

And Forbes is hard-core, Alt-Left biased. Moreover, the link produces an editorial piece and editorials are not fact but opinion. The author, Chuck Jones is far-Left and anti-Trump, so the bias of what he writes must be factored in. #NEXT

It's a meaningless stat because the country was coming off a major recession. The lowest unemployment rate in history for blacks and hispanics is much more of a meaningful metric.

Don't try to debate or present conservatives with facts, their brain is just not wired to accept or admit mistakes or counter-arguments. Some say they are too narcissistic or too insecure, or both. They are called deplorables and dying out for a reason, Darwin at its finest folks.
