WATCH: Tesla Wastes No Time Breaking Ground On Texas Gigafactory

Tesla Giga Austin will produce two new Tesla EVs: Cybertruck and Semi as well as cars already available on the market: Model Y and Model 3 for the eastern part of North America.

The Model Y/3 production in Texas is expected to make some free space in Fremont, California for other projects, although we can't be sure whether the cars will be produced simultaneously in two places in the U.S.

While it is great to see Tesla grow, considering this factory is supposed to serve the East Coast, I would have put it in a state on the East Coast. Texas isn't really the spot. Dont BMW and Mercedes have plants and suppliers South Carolina and Alabama respectively?

Texas is centrally located and the factory is in easy reach of ports on the coast to ship out to the east coast and EU.

Austin is quickly becoming the Silicon Valley of the south so the presence is a win for the state.

This factory's #1 priority will by the Cybertruck, which it will build for the entire US so a central location is ideal. It could build up to 500k of these a year. The Semi will also be built here for the entire US. If there is a smaller version of the Cybertruck, also likely to be built here for the entire country.

The only lines that will be for the east coast are the Y/3, and I think there is a possibility of them using the brand new process being built for Germany right now. If they do that, again the factory might supply the whole country while Fremont is eventually remodeled to support the same process for western states.

CC: Texas is the pickup capital of the USA. Toyota has a truck plant there and maybe others. This might just be a "Polish Tesla Reputation" thing. I could be wrong.
