I am actually because doing so would radically improve Tesla's profitability and much more rapidly amortize components. That increased profit can then fund greater R&D. Given Tesla's lead, they could easily do as much business as a supply partner as they do with cars.

Tesla has done this before with the second gen. Smart ForTwo EV, the MB B250E and the RAV4 EV, all of these vehicles were limited number compliance ones and the integration of Tesla's drive-trains and their way for doing business was extremely problematic with the legacy automakers. I doubt there will be many takers on this offer.
