Ford Secures 230,000 Bronco Reservations In Just Two Weeks!

Ford has reportedly secured around 230,000 reservations for the all-new Bronco.

In the two weeks since reservations books for the Bronco opened up after its online reveal on July 13, automotive enthusiasts have been clamoring to lock in a reservation. All 3,500 First Edition models were quickly accounted for, prompting the automaker to double production to 7,000 units. As it turns out, though, it is not just the First Edition that shoppers have been reserving.

Not super impressive.

On the contrary, it's massive. 230K reservations for a niche vehicle is astounding.

If you find 230k astounding, the 500k for the Cybertruck must really blow your mind.

That's not astounding for a pickup. 500K is follower volume, not leader volume. And Tesla will not build those orders. As we saw with the Model 3, Tesla pretty much ignored the supposed rush of orders when actual production began.

So Darringer are you guys getting customers to put down 10 or 20K on a vehicle they might not see until 2022?

We won't accept nuisance orders where someone wants to custom order for $100. Such people are NOT committed but they will act entitled like they lit the fuse or something.

Dealers do not get an unlimited number of configurable orders so making people who want to special order pony up is a wise move from our side. We enter into a contract that spells everything out and it's tidy.

The answer to your question is that we tell people either to shit or get off the toilet and stop farting around. I'll happily send you to a Ford dealer who will play pretend, but we won't.

But there's more to it than that.

Yes, some of the people who placed the $100 orders will wait into 2022, but the people who come out of our configuration of what we are able to lock in won't be waiting that long.

Sure, for $100 we'll put your name on a list, but you're not going to get us to custom configure a Bronco the way you want it if you won't demonstrate your seriousness by paying up.

Unlike Tesla, which keeps the deposit money, Bronco deposit money (significant in the case of custom spec's) stays in the coffers of local, community-owned businesses who have a stake in the community where they do business.

If the franchise dealer is any good, they try to keep the customer for life.
