WHICH Best Selling Sedan Is DYING FASTER? Honda Accord Or Toyota Camry?
The internet discussion forums are ablaze fighting over Honda Accord vs. Toyota Camry.

But this time it's not so much about which one is better (we personally like the Accord) but which one is DYING FASTER.

And THAT crown is going to....drum roll...the Honda Accord.

Here are some highlights of the comments we read...

"One caveat to keep in mind: Toyota does way more in fleet sales for the Camry than Honda does for the Accord. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rental Accord, whereas rental Camrys are a dime a dozen at airports.

I think the sedan sales drop off we're seeing now is coupled both to the economy and the fact that you can get SUVs/crossovers with almost no MPG loss. I doubt sedans will recover, as they're going the way of true station wagons.

Historically I have always felt the Accord was a better looking car, but the recent redesigns have changed my ranking, I'm not fond of the new Accord and I really like the Camry. Also thanks Toyota for hanging on to the NA V6 for a few more years. The Turbo 4 in the Accord looks good on paper but mid size/full size sedans always need a V6."

Of course we know at least in the USA, sedans are the new Grandpa's Oldsmobile but tell us WHY you think Honda has trailed this race as the best seller and now is heading towards the emergency room?

The Accord is hands down the uglier of the two and Honda quality has slipped a little. The Camry does the segment best.

The Accord looks better, drives better and is much faster.

Neither is going away anytime soon.

Camry is just better, but both will survive being that they are the top two in our market and share platforms and drivetrains with multiple vehicles. They may even survive, by name, the transition to BEV.

The Accord is easily the superior of the two cars. Looks better. Drives better. Handles better. Has a better interior.

I truly feel Toyota's fleet sales is helping it here. I see Accords literally everywhere. Even more than I see Camry's. I actually feel like I see more Optimas than Camrys to be truthful.

Toyota's other smart move is having a nice handful of new products, driving customers interest in the brand. RAV4, Highlander, Corolla - all volume drivers, with new models over the past year or two, driving buyers into showrooms and keeping interest in the brand. Honda hasn't been as quick to turnaround models. I also feel that, in agreeance with the article, Honda made a mistake not keeping a V-6 for the Accord. As potent and capable as the 4-cylinder is, buyers want the smoothness and torque of a 6 in a car this size.

Frankly, during COVID, I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota has been smarter and more strategic in their sales approach as well. To me, as brilliant as a lot of Honda's products are, their marketing and sales strategies seem to be one step behind Toyota in the US.

Rocks of different sizes all fall at the same rate.

All objects free fall at the same rate regardless of their mass. Because the 9.8 N/kg gravitational field at Earth's surface causes a 9.8 m/s/s acceleration of any object.
