Former Google Engineer That Stole Trade Secrets From Waymo Gets 18 Months In Prison

Anthony Levandowski, the former Google engineer and serial entrepreneur who was at the center of a lawsuit between Uber and Waymo, has been sentenced to 18 months on one count of stealing trade secrets. 

Judge Alsup said that home confinement would “[give] a green light to every future brilliant engineer to steal trade secrets. Prison time is the answer to that.”

Maybe he should ask for a Presidential pardon. They seem to be available to anyone who breaks the law. And prison for this white collar crime won't exactly be the same as for murder 1. A low level security prison full of folks convicted of financial crime is likely in his future. 6-12 months at most then let out for good behavior.
