SPY PHOTO! Next BMW M4 Gets All Up In Our Grill AGAIN!

The cat’s pretty much out of the bag when it comes to the design of the new BMW M4 but today we can share a new batch of photos, showing an even less camouflaged prototype. The striptease continues as the Bavarian company is putting the finishing touches ahead of the two-door rocket's September debut.

These shots were made by our photographers in Munich just earlier today and show an M4 test car with almost no disguise. Of course, the front end wears the necessary amount of camouflage but it’s not covering even an inch of the new giant grilles. The situation is similar at the back but the taillights and quad exhaust pipes remain clearly visible.

It somewhat works (though pretty hideous) with the blackout grille. If they put chrome, absolutely not.

I predict this will be the worst-selling M coupe and sedan.

After telling us that this hideous grill was partly to differentiate the 3 and 4 series, they then put it on the M3 as well. WTF?

It's on the M3, too?

Thankfully it does not seem to be the case. There are photos with all of the grill covered and others that have the M3 sedan looking normal with the camo wrap. Considering the response the M4 has received, I suspect BMw will be smart and leave the M3 with a normal grill.

At least the M grille did not get bigger

Agree with scenicbyway12, this is not going to entice new M3, M4 owners and will certainly turn off many of the existing M3, M4 enthusiast who would have been looking to get a new one. In addition they have dumped some of the other iconic styling signatures that have defined BMWs such as the hoffmeister kink in the C pillar. I used to really think Chris Bangle was on drugs, but these guys are into the heavy stuff.

BMW is really schizophrenic these days. Some of their cars are styled pretty good such as the M2 and basic 3 series/5 series. But then they have 2 series gran coupe, 8 series, the new 4 series and the M3, M4. It's like 2 different company design directions in one company. In addition it seems like some of the ones that are styled well also are trying to bring back the "Ultimate Driving Machine" feel to the base cars while the others are trying to beat Toyota at the "Ultimate Appliance Machine" game. Not sure what to think of BMW now days.
