Trucks That Kill: Is It Time To Begin Blaming The Vehicle Rather Than The Driver?

Trucks That Kill: Is It Time To Begin Blaming The Vehicle Rather Than The Driver?
When I was growing up in rural Colorado, my family had a classic work truck: a 1980 F-150 with the famous 300 cubic inch inline six-cylinder engine. It was often my task to fetch a load of sand for mixing concrete, or landscaping soil, or lumber for some project. It was a great truck, with only one problem — the oil pressure relief valve was a little sticky, so if you started it up cold and let it idle, the oil filter would sometimes explode. You had to give it some throttle immediately to shake loose the valve, after which it would be fine. It was just one of those little quirks that you adapt to with a hard-used piece of equipment.

Ridiculous, the driver is at fault, just like the hillbilly found guilty in Virginia for plowing through a crowd of white protestors.

Just as I believe guns don’t kill people, people kill people, however there are exceptions, malfunctioning adaptive cruise control systems, or someone walking in a gun store and stocking up on heavier duty guns/firepower than our military....something is wrong with both pictures LOL

WELL, a good portion of the misguided public blames guns for shootings and wants them banned. Though I have yet to find an instance where an gun shot people all by itself.

So using that mentality it is the truck's fault not the driver and they should be banned.

Also pencils flunk standardized tests last time I heard

Exactly but regarding guns, let’s just say a guy walking into purchase a gun with the ability to fire rifle cartridges in rapid succession from an ammunition belt or magazine, should have some type of mental evaluation checklist first

A cars first priority & core competency is transportation...a gun’s core competency is...well...killing LOL

it’s just important to keep all things in context, that’s all

Fully agree with you about context there and it is much appreciated.

Give a fool a reason and he will find a way to do mayhem

Agent009 - I have also not been able to find an example of Two people in a fight shooting each other when Neither HAD a gun or access to one. There are two sides to every story. It is and should remain illegal to point a loaded weapon at a Human being - killing Humans should NOT be sport.

Having been brought up in a rural area - guns serve a purpose - but there has to be a limit somewhere. Many of these guns are simply Military weapons and do not belong in Sport use. THe Constitution does NOT give you the right to have ANY and ALL weapons. - automatic weapons do not belong in private homes at all.

I see no reason why Universal Background checks should not be enforced for ALL gun and Ammunition sales. ANd there are examples of rounds that are really beyond the level of sport as well.

Liberals typically will blame the object for the crime instead of the person actually committing the crime.

it is easier that way. Individuals are looked at as victims, so blame the instrument or the moment because it is easier.

It doesn't matter that knives killed 5 times more people than guns did in 2018 in the US. Guns are evil and knives are not. Not sure I follow that logic fully.

Agent 009 I’m aware you don’t “follow that logic” so I’m grateful to have this dialogue to help you understand and perhaps gain a new level of understanding.

So here it is...when you are in doubt of a logic, resort to common sense...which in this case goes back to the core competency point.

Core Competency:

Car- Transportation
Knives- Food utensils found in restaurants, homes, and eateries globally
Guns- To Kill

LMAO, if you misuse any of the above sure it could turn into a weapon, but again what was it’s initial purpose?

There you go bud...glad I could help

I'd bet a 1980 F-150 is about as big as a Tacoma today. Modern 1/2 ton trucks and their bigger brothers are truly huge vehicles. They need to be driven with care as they take much longer to stop and much much longer in the wintertime. A law mandating snow tires like they have in Quebec would make people a bit safer too.
But 1/2 ton trucks are the top selling vehicles in the USA and Canada. That won't change.

trucks are getting HUGE, many wont fit in a garage much less a parking space.

Any law about snow tires has to take the local climate into consideration. Even here in Seattle, as far north as we are, seldom see significant snow. Some winters we get none at all. but we still do have times during the winter that either chains, snow tires or all wheel drive is required to go over a number of our mountain passes. On occasion even snow tires alone aren't enough. Chains or AWD or you can't cross the mountains.

This is total bullshit.

If these trucks were butchering people because they are so big, then it would follow that semis would be causing a Holocaust V2.0.

The fact is that people buy vehicles that they are incompetent to drive.

"Hey Honey, now that we're both retired, let's get us a big-assed trailer and a big-assed pickup to pull it."

DickLess4Lyfe wants to defend his fellow murdering libtards. But alas the proof is in the data. More folks die from violent crime at the hands of liberals every weekend in any major city compared to people being hurt by pickup trucks. If these hypocrite liberals really cared about their fellow man, they'd be decrying the tsunami of violent crime afflicting our left wing run cities. Instead he just rails pathetically about the president - which is in fact, entertaining because there's not a damned thing he can do about Trump winning another 4 years.
