Inspector General To Audit Vehicle Safety Standards After NHTSA Fails Mission To Protect The Public
The Transportation Department's Office of Inspector General said on Tuesday it would audit oversight of U.S. vehicle safety standards, noting that more than 36,000 Americans were killed in traffic accidents in 2019.

The inspector general's office said it was launching a review of NHTSA's efforts to set and enforce Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

"Given the importance to the traveling public that all new vehicles and components meet federal safety standards, we are initiating a review of NHTSA’s FMVSS process," the inspector general's office wrote.

Yup! When you have piss poor leadership at the top, you can expect it to trickle down and all over, negligence, incompetence, ignorance spreading like a damn virus...

About the same number of Americans die annually from guns shots. Surely the Inspector General can review the current gun laws, eliminate some loopholes and make everyone apply for a gun license prior to being allowed to buy a gun. Crazy talk, but it should be doable.

Isn't there some part of that second amendment other than hey everyone gets a gun, any kind of gun, don't care if your ruled insane we have guns for you, have fun, enjoy??? I just cannot remember that other part of the second amendment.....

With respect to the topic at hand, I believe getting a license is easier than it has ever been and I notice a much higher average speeds on the freeways ~80-90mph mostly around here.
That combination alone would make it more deadly. Cars are safer than they have ever been however they could do a few simple things with the roads especially highways to increase safety, fewer exits through cities on major highways, put some brush or something in the median to cut oncoming headlight glare and prevent vehicles from crossing over, enforce keep right except to pass....
