2022 Subaru BRZ Already Caught  Testing In Public

It would mean a flat-4 engine would remain the sole powertrain, though other updates could be made to the architecture.

A couple of years back, a report claimed the cars would feature a larger-displacement engine. Subaru's newest turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-4 was floated, minus the turbo. At the time, Subaru told Motor Authority it's committed to a BRZ successor, though it did not share any other details.

As long as they keep the weight down, gear ratios tight, and maybe a tad more power 50plus horses/torque I see this being a great fun to drive sports car

People who buy this thing aren’t trying to be the fastest thing on the drag strip, they enjoy driving and a great handling car above all

Because it's S-L-O-W and it's handling ISN'T that great. In fact, the handling is middling at best. That stems from this being at its heart an FWD platform that was adapted to be RWD.

A good sports car does not need a "momentum" strategy to get around a track. Moreover, being able to steer the car with the throttle is highly desirable in a sports car and such a thing is not possible with this turd.

The GT86 will push into a curve and you can't rotate it with the throttle because (1) there's no punch on tap and (2) the FWD architecture that was cobbled together for this just keeps pushing.

You obviously have ZERO track experience.

A GTI is far more pleasing to drive fast at the track and that platform is most decidedly steerable at the limit with the throttle. A GTI can be coaxed into oversteer to rotate the car when it's pushing too much. The GT86 just drifts off into the weeds.

Illogical reasoning. The Mustang does 300hp for about $26K and has no problem mixing it up with the GT86.
