Dude Drives Ferrari 488 Spider, McLaren 720S and Corvette C8. Picks C8. PROVE To US WHY He's Not Right In The Head
So you THINK you're a car expert after test driving a 488, 720s and the new Corvette?

Here's a snippet of their review after driving all three.

Unlike McLaren's low res/laggy screen, the infotainment was butter smooth with as high pixel density as the newest Mercedes system. (The 458/488/F8's "infotainment" is only entertainment because it's a joke at this point). CarPlay worked seamlessly and the base Bose sound system was surprisingly great, if not a tad too heavy on bass. The suspension was softer than my M3 in Tour mode and cabin insulation was also far better than the exotics.

Summary: The car I drove was an LT1 car with Z51 package. At the MSRP of $65k it's honestly speechlessly good. Even for $20-30k more I can't think of a car I'd get over this. A decently optioned Cayman GTS would be $100k+ and still has far worse daily usability and technology, and with only marginally better driving experience for the average joe on the average roads.

Spies, do YOU want this poor soul where he's gone wrong? No hate on the Vette, we like it. But in the words of Keyshawn Johnson, C'MON MAN!

Respond accordingly below and educate the man please....

He's totally right in the head. The Corvette gives similar performance but would be by far the one you'd be most comfortable using as a daily driver.

Totally agree. For 99.5% of drivers, the Vette is more performance than they'd ever need. The rest of it is just a pissing contest to see who can spend more money.

I would take the Corvette too. Less maintenance, taxes, fees, and can easily be a daily driver (I actually did drive a Corvette for a month).

Sure, many more reasons to get the C8 over the Ferrari or McClaren. The BIG reason is price. But it also has other strengths outside of that. However, the satisfaction a Ferrari or McClaren owner has in people looking at them and knowing they can afford it is the reason why people buy Ferraris, Lambos or McClarens. I just don't think that aspect of being filthy rich will ever go away and nor does the industry (or really any industry with prestige offerings) want it to go away.

Not a good time to flaunt high end super cars while so many people are suffering. It can attract the wrong kind of attention. A Corvette, a 50's or 6o's car or a good driving Mustang more acceptable until things improve.

Yes, everyone should drive an old LTD wagon until there is no more suffering in the world.

I have a 2017 Aston Martin V12S - still with 1 1/2 years factory warranty. My Corvette C8 I ordered was supposed to be my daily driver, but with Covid I can have one or the other. The C8 is slated to be built today! I've driven a C8. Compared to my V12S with 565HP, the power 'feels' similar, the drive smoother and quieter, the build quality though is no where even close to the Aston. The car looks large but drives smaller than it looks. The handling is very similar to the Aston. The Aston is now going up in value as there are not that many V12S, and my Silver with tan interior makes it even more desirable - I spec'ed the C8 the same colors. Now I one of the hardest decisions I've ever made - do I keep the Aston, and continue to make the $1,350 a month payments, the mandatory $1,600 annual inspection to keep warranty up, the $2,000 annual license plate fees, the extra $2,000 a year to insure a $200K car, and to extend the warranty the $4,500 annual (Aston warranties can be extended 10 years) --- or sell the Aston, pay cash for the C8 and wipe out most of the expenses. If the V12S reaches collector status the value will rise quickly (it's seems to be doing that now). The C8 is an incredible car, but the V12S is more so. I can't have both.

Is it a manual V12S?

If so, keep it if $ is of no concern, IMHO!

OOOHH...
.... "The Aston is now going up in value as there are not that many V12S, and my Silver with tan interior makes it even more desirable"

If so, yours would be the first normal production Aston of the DB7/DB9/Vantage vintage to "go up in value", manual or not. Its a 2017 Vantage..you paid about $150,000 for it..its worth about $110,000 now (which is better than the 'auto-V8' Vantage of the same year, which would be worth about $90,000 now). Aston's newer than 20 years old just depreciate. Plus the DB7 was basically a warmed-over Jaguar XJS (from the 70's/80's) so its a dog.

Corvette is fine but really anyone who has the money is not going to get a one. The reason why I have Patek and AP watches that cost 10x more than a Rolex is because I can. Simple as that. Rolex is fine, but commonplace. Same with the Vette.

Around here in Beverly Hills it seems that high end car sales (from Ferrari to Pagani) are up. What else are you going to do these days than drive around in an awesome car. Everything is closed.

I have a Ferrari 812 Superfast - and a ROlls Phantom among the fleet - I inherited mine but essentially I am in the same position -I can have most anything I want because I can afford it. But I live on the east coast. And not in the Hamptons. Around here - people who have real money have an analog car driving system and THEY sit in the Back Seat most of the time.

It still depends on the actual "use" I needed for a Vehicle. IF I needed something to be a daily driver - AN Aston would simply be too much of a worry- so would a McClaren. At least you can get the parts for a Corvette anywhere.

Don't discount the "hassle factor". Exotics are expensive to service, parts tough to get, and there could be a wait. There are zillions of Chevy dealers.

So true and if the Corvette gets scratched, well it's only a Chevrolet.
