Name A WORSE Pick For Car Of The YEAR Than Chrysler PT Cruiser. HOW Much $$$ Did Motor Trend Get To Pick THAT One?
The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a front-engine, front-wheel drive, small family car/compact MPV manufactured and marketed internationally by Chrysler in 5-door hatchback (2000–2010) and 2-door convertible (2005–2008) body styles—over a single generation, with an intermediate facelift for model year 2006.

Noted for its exterior recalling styling of the 1930s, the PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt. The interior packaging was noted for its high-roof, high h-point seating, and flexible cargo and passenger configurations—a multi-level cargo shelf as well as fold, tumble and removable rear seating.

By the end of production in July 2010, worldwide production had reached 1.35 million.

One of the things we've learned over the years is many of these awards are the best awards money can buy.

So tell us Spies, have we picked the worst car of the year (#ThanksMotorTrend) or can you top it? And did you or a friend ever own one. Imagine this scenario after a few adult pops back in the day....MY HHR BLOWS away your piece o'crap PT!!! LOL! We're sure somehow, somewhere that argument happened.

The PT Cruiser was a great product. It sold well and was a crossover before crossovers crossed over. It died because Mercedes thought people would be captivated by the Caliber when arguably a brand new PT Cruiser would have done as well if not better than the turd the Caliber was.

I remember reading that the Chevy Citation was an MT car of the year--I think--a vehicle that came with lock up brakes that did so in non-emergency situations rendering the car unsafe at any speed. If so, that would be a contender.

Im sure they must have awarded the Cimarron too.

Honestly, looking at the smaller vehicle categories today, the PT Cruiser & HHR are literally the precursor vehicles for the SUVs & (raised) 5-door wagons we see today.

Yes, many of the special edition & aftermarket add-on were completely hilarious, but the PT Cruiser had some serious fanatics. But whats the differenct b/t the PT Cruiser then & the GLA/X1/X2/Macon/XC40/Tucson/Steltos/etc today? AWD & ride-height?

The Chevy VEga was given car of the year - it was certainly a bigger flop.
I actually had a Pontiac Phoenix(Chevy Citation) - 4 door Fastback - which I really liked that lasted over 250,000 miles

But - they actually gave the Renault Alliance the car of the year at MT. What a piece of Junk!!!
