Study Shows Traffic Will Get Worse Due To Corona Virus

A study has shown that the coronavirus pandemic is creating a shift away from public transportation and towards private cars in the United States.

In the study conducted by Cars.com earlier this month with 3,062 respondents, it was discovered that more than a third of Americans are currently working from home and that when they do return to the office, they won’t do so via public transportation.

No surprise here.

Right. More people "distancing" by driving their own vehicles. Means worse rush hour traffic & generally increased density in traffic throughout the day. Also less of a chance to score your favorite parking spot or lot since more people will be driving.

So if you noticed that more traffic was on the road during a period when thought streets would be fairly clear...you're not alone. It's annoying.

The increased traffic leads to greater driver impatience - hence the increased number of speeding tickets. And possibly more frequent accidents. There's just no end to the negativity huh.

Then you have the stupid bastards in drive throughs that socially distance their cars. I pray that BLM or Antifa or both attack them.

With all the COVID-19 going around the USA at the moment worrying about crowded highways should be the last of your concerns. Instead pray there is not a 2nd wave and a double whammy of flu and convid-19 killing people in the fall. If you had shut down in Q1 it would not be the issue it is today.

The U.S. won’t shut down again. If Trump wins, he won’t do it. If Biden wins. The media will not care anymore, and Biden will not be pressured to close.

Canadiancomments, I encourage you to look at CDC statistics. The weekly death rate in the US has declined dramatically since the peak in April (last week was less 62% lower than the worst week in April). And that is despite the economy being way more open.

On a 2 block street next to my home, I count 25 businesses that have shut permanently due to overzealous shelter in place orders. More will close each day the economy is not re-opened. Pretty soon there won't be anything left to save.

Communistcomments sees that ruination of businesses as a beneficial thing because businesses are bad and only to government is good.

I didn't use public transportation before this, and assuming I ever return to the office I'll still be driving myself. Our local transit system has great coverage, but between my home and my office it would take two hours and two transfers. I can drive it in 25 minutes. I teleworked part-time before this happened, and I'll continue to do so if our office reopens. However, I'm likely going to retire in just under a year, so I may never go back anyway. The government has already said that when we re-open, it will be in stages, and due to my age I won't be cleared to return until stage 3.

The commute is also why I work a flex shift: I start at 6AM and finish at 2:30. I am ahead of rush hour traffic both ways.

The plague of leftwing violence, bigotry and destruction is now a bigger threat than Covid-19.
