The Japanese firm announced on Twitter that it will reveal the Nissan Z Proto on 16 September, previewing the new model that's due in 2021. Autocar understands the production version of the car is set to use the 400Z title.

Time to go MR, Nissan
Or you are not gonna win the war with Toyota/BMW

Nissan already won over BMW/Toyota on price alone. About $40K for a 400hp 400Z.
Now compare that to a less than 400hp for about $50K from the Zupra.

If this one is not the right car for the right times at the right price then it will be the last Z car we will ever see. Here's hoping they get it right.

The beauty of Nissan or anyone in life hitting rock bottom..is you have no place left to go but up, in rooting for Nissan and hope they learned from Toyota’s Fumbled Supra revival and get Nissan/Infiniti back on track to where it left off in the early 2000’s with back to back hits like the Maxima, Z, G 35 coupe/Sedan, FX 35, and GTR

Reskin the crappy 350Z and call it the all-new 370Z then reskin the crappy outdated 370Z and call it the all-new 400Z. That's all this is.

I'm no expert, but it sounds like the wait is not over.

And what's the point in waiting? It's not like Japan's record for sports coupes is stellar. The Miata is slow and boring. The 86 is loud and middling handler. The NSX is horribly expensive and routinely dispatched by cars costing half as much. The Supra is overpriced, wrong-sized, and mediocre in any way. The current 370Z--that the 400Z will be under the skin--is rife with quality control and reliability issues, but Nissan does not appear to be able to right that ship.

I sure hope that Nissan does not drop the ball on this new generation Z car.

I bought a brand new 280Z back in 1977 and it was a wonderful experience. After prior ownership of two Jaguar XKE's that always suffered from problems and electrical headaches, the Datsun 280Z was a delight to own, drive and enjoy.
